Wow, thank you for those Archer. I had never seen the finished article other than rolled up in a cardboard tube ready for sending…!

Fascinating. Archer, I don’t suppose you got any pictures of the display boards inside the Comet nose? I recall designing them many years ago, but never saw how they looked in place?

Some crated wagon loads might be quite recognisable as aircraft parts, see this website:

    http://www.ngaugesociety.com/index.php?page=mill-lane-sidings-gallery

For the Great Western Railway ‘AERO’ wagon, recognisably for carrying propellors.

    Hi Dragon Rapide,

Air Atlantique still operate Rapides G-AIDL and G-AGTM (an old friend of yours?), a Prentice and a Chipmunk on everyday pleasure flying duties.

As things stand the aircraft are only available for A-A pleasure flights as opposed to A-B excursions, but in terms of such activities appearing on the schedule again, I am sure it is a case of ‘never say never’.

I’d recommend calling the office in Coventry on 02476 88 2616 and speak to Trevor Bailey. A wider range of flying opportunities are possible with Classic Flight Club membership.

Last weekend it was on display in the main exhibition hangar (H7) on view to the public. I suspect it will be the same on forthcoming weekends, but cannot guarantee this, after all, it is a privately owned machine so may be out and about flying at any particular time.

So, reading that correctly, if you don’t book in advance and go on the day, you pay £20 for parking off-site, £3 for the park and ride and then £5 entry? So for two adults that’s £36

I think 2 adults in that circumstance would not have to pay the fiver each at the airport gate, that is for pedestrian visitors arriving on foot, not from the remote parking.

I think!!! Usual ‘in a good cause’ disclaimer in the event I’m wrong!

Bruce Dickinson does not own anything remotely classic, but has driven Southend’s Vulcan

And did, on a few occasions, fly passengers in Air Atlantique Classic Flight’s Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer, G-APRS.

    Hi Bob,

its no secret that the Daks will be working for their living this year, though not as passenger carrying aircraft. As for the future, who knows… the important thing at this stage is that they remain living, breathing aircraft.

As far as any future strategy goes, DGH and I, on the volunteer side of things, are not best placed to gaze into a crystal ball. (I no longer work full time at AACF, but still do the odd freelance graphics job for them, as well as enthusiastic support as a volunteer)

Pleasure flights this year are mostly Rapide ones, with some other aircraft waiting in the wings. But as you will all appreciate its a ferociously expensive, challenging business to be in, for more details on how you can help, see http://www.classicflightclub.com.

    good layout of aircraft outside.

Cheers Rich, we wanted to make ‘stars’ out of Alan’s tractor and trolley acc. combo, and they (along with the Chipmunk) also helped to cover the rabbit holes! Do you have any more pictures, I never get chance to take any!

    Love the sunset one!
