Nice! I have to admit I rather liked the old ‘Welsh Independent Air Force’ colour scheme! In case you have any more pictures of AACF’s Swiss twin-boomers, their codes were G-DHVM ex.’GONE: J-1542, and our two stored ‘spares’ are J-1629 and J-1649, all Venom FB50s.

Keep them coming! I will get together more shots from Wednesday 🙂

Tom, I reckon it might be wise, next time, to have a photographer at both ends of the Pembroke, you might have to be dragged along as well!

Hopefully next time there should be more forward planning than… “those clouds look nice and fluffy, lets go and take some pictures in them” 😉

….we also have a serious lack of decent Venom pictures…

    – photographed the Swiss Dh-100’s, Dh-112’s and Dh-115’s regularly during the 80’s…

It may well be an old freind, G-HELV is an ex Swiss Vampire, I will do a bit of digging and find out its old identitiy.

As far as the camera goes, it was hastily borrowed from Atlantic Recon. downstairs, I will find out about the lens!

Thanks for the kind comments, as ever in this sort of situation, we realise how lucky we are to get paid for this kind of thing!

😀 Would certainly be interesting! If Will J is reading this maybe he could knock us up a suitably Reno-esque scheme for the old girl 😉

    Tom.

I’ll give it a go tomorrow, need to retreat tot he pub now, was dragged out to get some air to airs with the Vampire, will post the results tomorrow!

    (Will-experiencing Pembroke related hearing loss 😀 )

I think the Hunter, shown at the 2003 Coventry airshow, wears the ‘unnoficial’ squadron markings (the owl on the nose) of a maintainence training unit it served with after its flying service life ended.

I’m sure somebody else can fill in more precise data 🙂

The Venom, I think, is from the 60sqn aerobatic team, Davej, are you out there as I suspect you know more about this subject!

I should be be there on both days, hopefully, as will others from the Baginton contingent, both human, and radial powered.

My parents should be around too, having traded up from the traditional overheating MGB ride along the M11 to a couple of nice air cooled Alvis Leonides, the MGB is probably theoretically faster but the Twin Pin but is more suseptible to getting stuck in traffic 😀

Nope, a normal house, but in Earlsdon, which is nice, and nicely within cycling range of the airfield!

Unfortunately the Convair has no facilities, what I really want is an unwanted Shackleton fuselage, as a cunning way of dodging the housing market (whilst probably spending more money!), I wonder if the owners of the Long marston one would sell?

(normally the finals turn is the otherside of the house!).

    JC

…true, but finals rarely involve a full figure of eight turn, I guess they had to check ‘PY would turn in both directions 😉

Absolutely right John, she was doing a brief shakedown flight yesterday afternoon, and should be up again this afternoon as well 🙂

    Apparently flying fine so far!

The Twin Pioneer celebrations went very well, see mexicanbob’s thread. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it up there to Prestwick, but thankfully, through a convenient gap in some worrying weather, ‘Primrose’ did!

Hopefully I will be able to post some more pictures soon, although my postings may get a bit infrequent in the next week or two due to a house move.

If it all goes a little quiet from my end, don’t worry, I will be back! 😉

Are these two the Gold Coast ‘Twin Pionair’ ones, their website seems to be currenly offering flights and gives the impression of being a going concern?

Or are there two other Twin Pins + spares down there?

That is good news if true, while it would be a good addition to the Cosford collection there are plenty of airframes there already that need to go undercover!

The Shack’ needs to stay ‘at home’!

MexicanBob, glad you enjoyed the trip, there is nothing like a bit of gentle Twin-Pinning!

PS If you fancy returning the favour, and the Baghdad Twin Pin could fit in a Globemaster….. hint hint..

Seriously, we could genuinely use another one!

    An easy choice…

An ex Royal Navy AEW Skyraider, there are still a fair few of them around waiting for restoration of some kind. Seafuryfan, how about a two-ship display team 🙂
