Note to Duxford people, for a true Commonwealth perspective Airspace needs a Jindivik, there must be a few left and it would not take up much space!
PS Best looking Hunter…. T8M, by miles 😉
I ought to be there all things going well, probably after a heavy bout of jet polishing 😀
Nobody has picked up on the other snippet of info there.. destined for the Messerschmit Foundation in Germany. With a 262 in Europe, we may see one in a mock ‘dogfight’ with a Meteor yet 😀
Sounds like it was a great weekend, I’m gutted to have missed it..
(although with my university final assesments on Tuesday, one more weekend sketching diagrams of ekranoplans was probably a wise choice! Only a couple of weeks and I am thrown out into the real world, if you can call Air Atlantique the real world… it’s far better than that 😉 )
…Colerne next year should be brilliant.
Was ‘Primrose’ up against ‘Baltic Bear’ , whilst I love Antanovs (see avatar), they have no chance against an enthusiastic Twin Pin! And I thought my suggestion for a Scottish Aviation/Antanov formation display team had fallen on deaf ears…. just need to think for a name for it!
PS It was just as wet in Coventry!
Does anybody know what the future holds for it as and when it reaches its destination, I remember reading that it might be up for sale (from @eroplane monthly I think  )
Mr. De Cadenet was reported to be very pleased with his stunt double for the forthcoming Seafire documentary.
No fear.. we still do open days, see http://www.classicflight.com, there will be at least one more this year.
There is a report on the latest open day on the front page of http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk that includes some nice pictures taken from on board our Twin Pin, G-APRS ‘Primrose’, come along and join in the fun!
‘PRS will be putting in appearances at Hullavington this weekend, and will find her way to Legends as well, all in all a busy year 🙂
Maybe the Twin Pin is represented in that diagram by what looks like a Jetstream, which is sat under the wing of the Belfast, which on closer inspection looks to be a Hercules?
Next year will be even better . . .
I guess many of us are kicking themselves that we managed to miss out for yet another year!
-Probably time to encourage a certain Coventry-based classic aircraft operator (with an appropriately French sounding name) to send some aircraft there. Also, if there was enough support/bookings, I bet it is well within Dakota/Twin Pin range… if anybody fancied it.
Do any other operators run passenger flights into the event?
The shot of the aircraft on the ground gives a nice comparison of the Catalina and the ‘baby’ version (look between the Whirlwind and the fence)..
It must be 1:6th scale 😮
Beautiful pictures by the way!
Depends on your definition of exciting… but then I get excited about short Seamews 😀
A cold war squadron of Walrii sounds less silly when you think of Polikarpov biplanes being used (in Korea  ) to play psychological warfare with American soldiers, keeping them awake at night.
Logically, several hours of ‘steam pigeon’ lullaby to deprive you of sleep and then a bouncing bomb through the wall of your barracks would be enough to sap the morale of the most stoic enemy…
Happy Birthday Martin!
(From sunny Coventry.. happy birthday from the Mustang Restoration Co. 🙂 )
I believe this one, here at the Airshow in 2003, has now moved on, the might still be bits and pieces on site though?
Judging by their DC6, ignoring any question of historical accuracy, a Red Bull B17 would look absolutely stunning.
As I see it, a ‘warbird’ wearing a promotional livery, as a flying advertising hoarding, is no different to say, an aircraft of a similar vintage in civil colours as a fire bomber…
..it is just another chapter in the history of that particular airframe.
~Ducks to avoid hurled missiles~
It is a slightly different matter if the particular aircraft is in itself recognised as a monument to wartime sacrifice. So the question there is, what kind of logo is sufficiently subtle and appropriate?
