Carrying on on the Virgin train of thought, supporting this cause would surely do the company no harm, publicity wise, given its interest in the transatlantic market.

When I get more time I will try some graphic artwork to show how it might look…

Watching the footage it did set the mind wandering about whether it would be possible to reenact such a sight (I guess the crowded skies over Duxford, and just about any other venue, would preclude it) for a ‘warbird’ show in proper context.

Just imagine it, a ‘balbo’ of fighters starting in a high level dogfight, possibly with the aircraft getting prgressively lower as the battle progresses…

…I suppose it also rather depends on a nice clear day, so it could hardly be promoted as an attraction for a show!

How dependent on atmospheric conditions would the production of contrails from piston engines be?

Seriously though, my @rse-ing around with Paint Shop Pro aside…

Which companies out there with a few coins to spare might enjoy the exposure of their name on a historic aircraft?

In one of the Sally B threads, Virgin was hinted at, not a crazy suggestion given Richard Branson’s desire to run a Concorde, and his support of heritage projects…. Am I right in thinking that he was instrumental in keeping the ‘Flying Scotsman’ locomotive in the country?

Which other companies out there (other than the obvious, Aon, Breitling, Red Bull etc..) could potentially get involved?

One of G-VROE’s greatest adventures was a tour of the Gulf region in 2000, along with our ex-BBMF Devon, suitably dressed up as a Gulf Aviation Dove. I could probably track down some better pictures in the archive, for now here is an extract from our brochure about it…

..also, the Anson has met some stars in her time with the company, who is this trying to steal her limelight at Rome airport? (I had to look twice when i was shown it 😀 )

G-VROE is still a very active Anson, as Ian explained it is often seen in Jersey when our chairman Mr Collett brings it ‘home’. I think it was restored to airworthy condition at Duxford in the mid nineties (Aircraft Restoration Company  ), there are probably others here who can fill in the gaps.

It has a few rather high profile airshow bookings this year…. watch this space 🙂

Ps.. G-VROE’s twin engined RAF stablemate at Air Atlantique should be familiar to our friends at Conningsby..

I’m sure I had heard speculation along these lines before, though what it could have to do with otters

Great stuff, nice to see pictures of more unusual ‘flying machines’ like target drones, keep up the good work 🙂

Plenty of Cortinas, although I didn’t manage to get any decent pictures, there is one lurking amongst this lot…
