Here’s one for John C, the ultimate hot rod, over the runway at CFS..
A bit of a beast is it not :diablo:
While on the subject of that forum, there is an interesting thread following a chap building a model Bristol Freighter 🙂 , I’m very tempted to do the same..

Can Am cars, the exception to the rule, they look cool with huge wings 🙂
Hello Peter, the answer to your question, or at least endless pages of speculation, can be found here…http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270028
You’re right there, late 60’s grand prix cars are the best, especially Coopers and BRMs 🙂
The best ones are from the 66/67 seasons, big 3 litre engines, big fat tyres and no wings (wings have their uses, such as being stuck to the sides of vintage aircraft, but not on cars 😀 )
If you have always fancied a working Lightning but haven’t the garage space, or South African airspace, to fly it in, the next best thing can be found at http://www.mickreevesmodels.co.uk . You can also get his Javelin, Hunter or Venom! It is also worth a look for the interesting BBMF picture on the front page- which he rightly points out you can replicate with his kits!
Yep, the Gold Leaf colours started on the 49, and were kept on the earlier 72s (see pic) which had to be the best looking! (Though the JPS ones are pretty special 🙂 )
I remember seeing the Gold Leaf Elise at the motor show, did they go on sale or was it a one off?
This one has cropped up before, but you can’t beat a car with a Napier Lion up the front…. (take a good look at the title on the bonnet 😮 )
‘Russia’s Ekranoplans’ by Sergai Kommisarov (sp???, havent got the book by me at the moment 😮 ) published by Midland Counties- excellent for both words and pictures 🙂
Can anybody hazaed a guess/ offer an explanation of the curious structure along the nose of the large flying boat, is it something as simple as a boarding ramp?
Also, the cowlings and spinners are reminiscent of those on a Noratlas, are there more Bristol derived Snecma radials?
Wow 🙂
I miss flying my ‘sort of Cub’ already- as I mentioned in another thread it currently sits in the loft in a multitude of small bits waiting for a rebuild. Nothing wrong with the plane, more the pilot 😮
Oh well, my Corsair is coming along nicely 😉
Hi James, glad you enjoyed your visit, it’s a shame you were not there the previous day, though any kind of coherent conversation you may have tried to have would have been drowned out by four Griffons and eight propellors growling in harmony :diablo:
I had heard rumours about your visit, were you on journalistic business?
🙂
I cant help but be impressed by a tiger moth built by a friend of mine…. scale hinges, working compass in the cockpit…. you get the idea 😀
I seem to remember the commentator at Legends this year describing this happening to a Dak pleasure flying operation in Alaska 🙁
As for AACF, (while it should be pointed out that security is taken very seriously and dealt with pro-actively) a public forum is probably not the ideal place to discuss the precise details of a company’s security arrangements. AACF work closely with the appropriate authorities to ensure that their aircraft can continue to fly and ‘work’ for their living. Challenging projects are undertaken in cases where the degree of percieved ‘red tape’ might well put off other operators, witness the two DC-3s flying low over the Thames for the rememberance day commemorations.
Just sounding a word of caution… now back to the thread subject, I will dig out some more pictures of winter servicing. Just for John, I will post a picture of that ‘hot rod’ DC6 engine test bed vehicle we were admiring 😀
