Who’s that? 😉
PS.. Sunday is booking up well, remaining seats will be before 11, and after 2ish. If anybody wants to book a seat in advance, send me a PM and I will pencil you in….
‘MN… PM sent, give me a call if you would like to reserve some seats!
I’m just printing out a map reminding the pilots exactly where to go on the day…
Any Dakotas down in that direction would be the two Air Atlantique Classic Flight ones going to the open day at Manston, for static display and pleasure flying. It owuld have been G-AMPY on Saturday.
There is at least one civil STOL twin in passenger carrying service, seen here amongst less STOL stable mates!

🙂
Unless of course, you call an (aerial) cab 🙂
Im not certain how much help we are given that you are starting from Hampshire, but for those put off by the trek from ‘up country’, you could always leave the car in Coventry, and arrive in style! See http://www.classicflight.com
As ever I would hesitate to include this ‘plug’ if not provoked, but as you brought up the subject of the long journey 😉 .
A couple more shots from recent years:

Always a good mix of classics and exotic heavy metal!
I guess the Wasp pair are the two from Kennet aviation….?

Which have displayed at the show before, I think they are two of the more distant specks in the mighty balbo (2003 ish)

They do a very nice pairs display, something you don’t get to see every day.
As I understand it the DC6 at Ljubjana has an intersting, pretty much complete passenger interior, which up until recently was open to the public, but this has been stopped due to access problems or some such health and safety issue. (not sure of the exact situation)
To add to the list these is always G-SIXC and G-APSA at Coventry airport, kept active with airshow bookings for ‘SA rolling in for 2007 🙂
Some more pics of the two seater can be found amongst this lot:

Hopefully we might get so see the two together in the earlier dark grey scheme, but if the cans of paint are to be opened then silver & yellow bands gets my vote:)
Wow! That is a nice looking Sea Fury, should look great at Culdrose’s 60th Anniversary Airday, great to see a boost to the UK Sea Fury population as well!
Yep, ‘SV is still there, and last time I looked was being worked on again. I’m afraid that’s all I know, but it may point towards steps being made to ensure the airframe’s future.
Oooh, the plot thickens…. the one I have doesnt have the DC6 on the front cover, must be another article!
About time one of the ‘sixes graced the front cover again:)
Hi Alan!
I managed to unearth this one from the shop at MAM, it is back in Coventry, I will be back there on Tuesday and will dig it out for you!
Almost certainly, G-AMPY was doing a flight to Biggin Hill and return, on each leg flying over Duxford for the benefit of the passengers. Organised by our good friends at Hodge’s travel (end plug!)
I think SIXC had the internal ‘door art’ at some stage, presumably long gone…
Is this true? and if so whats it of and anyone got pics?
Cant wait to see one of these girls back in the air during 2007.
Here it is, sorry about the wait!
Hopefully 2007 will be an exciting year DC6 wise:)
