— Actually, I do not know
And – what will Ilyushin (and the other OKB’s) do when it closes ??
— Other OKB do not use Khodynka since many years. Ilyushin will move the OKB’s workshop to Zhukovsky. Second Indian Il-38 come directly to Zhukovsky for upgrade last December.
It must have been quite a spectacular takeoff – and a great view from all those apartment buildings that now surround Frunze!
— It was! Will post another spectacular picture in few minutes

I think, these are flare launchers, you may see similar at An-30M sides, for example.
I have to change my nick;)

PiBu, thank you for that photo. But are you sure thats just before its first flight? This is the actual one – you can see that it is in yellow primer.
I am sure because I made both these pictures. Different colours are because of little sun when taking off and dark cloud few minites before.
for better coverage zone, off course. Not for additional lifting force, I guess:D
Here is the picture of Indian Il-38SD few minutes before its first flight in Moscow; ESM superstructure has been removed for short take-off.
The airplane on the photograph is Il-38N, Russian upgrade version while Il-38SD is an export version for India
Basic version of Hermes is 40-km range armoured-vehicle based version; 15-km helicopter version is secondary.
Possible customers for helicopter version? How about Turkey?
Similar thing: Su-27K mock-up for dimension evaluation.

So many contradictions and false?
By the way, cross-check many data from that UN register. You may find there, that Ukraine delivered one Su-27P to Great Britain in 2001 — but no one is stated in UK table as import…
Do not worry, life is full of errors, missunderstandings and dissinformations. In any press report which is a little more than banality, you may find errors.
Look at these UN data:
No, no.
Approx 105 kits since 1998!
I know, there are many contradictions in all this story and I can’t explain that.
I propose to stop this disscussion until we have more information.

A question about Pinkov- images frequently used by Jane’s which are accredited to Pinkov are usually almost identical to ones taken by amateurs overseas. Now I don’t want to impugn Pinkov’s character, but is he just taking pictures from the net and passing them as his own?
—–
I do not know. I meet him in many different places, including Russia, Ukraine (I never was in China), always with photocamera.
Jane’s AWA is the only source that I have seen that states that co-production of the Su-27 will end at ~80 craft, then switch over to production of the MKK. How did this come to be, and is this still believed to be the future scenario?
———
I have no such information; I believe, China will made all 200 27s, but maybe…
———-
How would you rate Kanwa’s accuracy?
———-
I fact, I usually look who is the author, not the magazine. I know “Pinkov” and believe he has some good information. But, in general, I try to check all at original sources.
Errors and missunderstandings are usual things in this work.
Show debut for upgraded Su-27″, are you referring to the Su-27SM/SK(U)? In your article you mention it’s the SMK, but the SMK was debuted in 1995, and the picture shown is of the 305 prototype, which according to Ken Duffey’s site is the SM/SK(U) demonstrator.
————
I was reffering SM, or its export version. At that time, Russians have no decision about the designation for export upgrade and used “SMK” or “SK upgraded” – now, they use designation SKM for export version of SM.
SMK of 1995 was just standard SK with small changes like refuelling, additional weapons pylons (if I remember correctly), all other things (cockpit, weapons) were on paper only.
So, ‘305’ is now SKM demonstrator.
how why it’s easy to misunderstand Technocomplex spokesmen? Just curious, thanks!
