To quote Kermit from his Facebook page regarding the Sunderland:
“YES I plan on flying it again and NO it won’t be coming to Oshkosh this year.”
I guess all good things come to those who wait
Can’t be many left now who can describe first hand what it was like to see Hanna Reitsch fly a helicopter inside the Deutschlandhalle or what it was like to be flown by Udet. Not to mention his own flying and other experiences. A great loss of the man and his knowledge and experiences. RIP
How about Shackleton with added Gannet? Enough props & noise?
Sorry if this is thread drift but great video of the FGR2 – never knew anything about that one. Hopefully the whole Black Mike thing will get resolved & a taxiable F4 will be back on the cards. If not, isn’t XT597 available from Everetts?
Love to see the Casa back in one piece – any chance of retro fitting Jumos? I know they were never fitted to a Casa. Seems to be happening a lot with Buchons
I would love to know if any of the AAM aircraft could be ground run while they are out. Was the B17 briefly airworthy before going in? I seem to remember one flying with Sally B years ago. Just a brief start up of a B29 would be worth the entry fee alone.
Watched the Catalina go overhead & back just after 1 today. Looked glorious in the sunshine & blue sky
Saw the catalina out from Duxford over Thurston at lunchtime today.
Exciting development – so many questions. Are they yours? Do they run (on the ground I mean)?
Certainly sounds like good news – anyone able to confirm it is all they wanted?
Unanimous vote too doesn’t leave a lot of room for doubt. I think they said that this simply formalised their current arrangements, so hopefully things can now move on.
Also it says ‘can be supplied with or without engines’ – surely not an option with Black Mike but something the team would like to do
Sorry for keeping the Napa bit going – rather off topic. But there are lots of engines with propellers mounted on poles around Napa to move air around the vineyards – wonder if there are any interesting engines tucked away?
These the Napa engines you mean?

Shame they are not in the UK.
2 Lancs and a Vulcan plus a pretty energetic RAF Typhoon display at a free Clacton airshow was a highlight. Can’t be many more Wattisham air sea rescue displays before the service changes over to private running. Would have loved to the the Sea Vixen , Miss Demeanour and the Draken, or the Be2 pair. Good year by any standards.
I have always wondered what a Horten 229 would have flown like. Didn’t Northrop-Grumman make a full size non flying replica & the Me262 guys have worked out engines that should fit….. Yes one survives but I don’t think it ever flew.
You can see a bit of the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton
