Many thanks Jethro

The reason for the delay of the new ATRs, is the company who make the seats are late in deliverying the seats for the new ATRs.
Two of the series 200s will leave the company at some time this year possible G-BWDA and G-BXTN
Can anyone confirm that both G-BWDA and G-BXTN have now been WFU by Aurigny? Jethro’s seems to indicate that they have, though clarification would be appreciated, thank you.

Great shots, Huw, despite the cloud!
Andrew – I suspect that El Al have moved to LTN following hikes in fees at STN. The exodus list of airlines from STN is becoming longer by the day!
Fees have been increasing at STN for some time, though following the recent findings and recommendations of the Competition Commission (that BAA should sell STN), the cynic in me suspects that BAA is doing what it can to surpress new growth at STN, thus devaluing the STN operation, and in two years time hopes to report that it has failed to find a willing bidder…
Time will tell!

Lovely shots!
Have not yet found the time to get up to NCL for the new summer charters, though looking forward to seeing the likes of SAGA soon.
Great work.

Some nice shots despite the poor weather!
Where did you end up taking these? Are they departures off 23?
If you need more information on photos at STN, I have some info here – http://www.adamrowden.co.uk/article-photography-at-london-stansted.asp

Great shots Paul – love the C-17 and the PIA as well. That’s some lovely evening light.

Thanks for your kind feedback guys – much appreciated 🙂
Alex – Haha, well ten years ago I was spending most of my weekend there! If you do a search on A.net you’ll find some of my first photos from STN in ’98 and ’99. It’s sad how the times (and airlines and aircraft) move on though I’ll always be grateful that someone invented the digital camera!
Dan – Yes that’s the one, it’s the big mound on the other side of the hedge directly opposite the entrance to the Hilton. It’s got a great view of the 05 threshold as you can see. Parking is a real hassle but I think the Hilton gives you an hour free before the charges start to rack up. And for what it’s worth, its one of the few places around STN that I’ve never been stopped! Check it out again if you can 🙂
Thanks again,
Adam
Fantastic shots Alex – that’s some smoke! Great work.

I love the photo from Stansted, with Buzz’ G-BSNR, and Go’s G-IGOX in the background. Seems along time ago now, but I can remember G-IGOX arriving at Stansted on delivery to Go. Good times…

The following document might be of interest – a submission to the Competition Commission from BAWC regarding fees at Stansted.

Thanks one and all for your feedback and kind comments, much appreciated. Here’s hoping for more snow before winter’s out…
Adam
Fantastic shots Dan – that’s quite a covering of snow you’ve had down south!

Note that the Maersk plane is a biz-jet, not an RJ. Also, the livery is not the Maersk Air livery, but is closer to the livery of Maersk Shipping. I’d say this is a biz jet operating for the shipping division. Perhaps bringing crew to their ship, or just some management types.
Good call! I hadn’t thought of that. I suspect you’re probably right…
Great shots, but, from them all, I ADORE the last shot, EK <3
Glad you like! The snow on the ground was fantastic for photos today. You can really see it lighting up the belly of the EK A330…

Great shots Chris! The weather brightend up just in time! Too bad I was stuck in town.

Hi Andrew,
If the weather’s poor at MAN tomorrow I suspect you’ll be needing an ISO more sensitive than 200 (i.e. a larger ISO number). It’s always tricky taking photos in low light…
You should be just about OK with a shutter speed of 250/320, but if you stick with an ISO of 200 you’ll more than likely be seeing dark and soft corners in your photos as the aperture drops down to wide open (e.g. something like f5.6) to compensate for low light. At 1/250 or 1/350 you’re still reasonably liable to motion blur as well, especially if you’re using zoom lens of any significance. No one enjoys blurry photos!
If I were you I’d use aperture priority and stick as close as you can to f7.1/f8 (which should just about keep dark/soft corners at bay), and adjust the ISO accordingly so that you can maintain a shutter speed of 1/320, or better still 1/400.
Unfortunately grain in the photos may be a problem, but there are remedies for that (e.g. NeatImage and other facilities in Photoshop etc.) during post-processing.
At the end of the day, remedies for motion blur and/or softness are few and far between!
Hope that helps,
Adam
