Phantom – not sure who took the image, but it would have been at the RNHF Charity Flying Day in September 2006. If you inspect the canopy framework on WV856 closely you’ll see another interesting colour – Emerald Green! This is a remnant from her days as the FOA(H) “Barge” based with 781 NAS at Lee-on-Solent during the early 1960s when she was painted with green upper and white lower surfaces, having replaced similarly-painted XE390.

The picture is credited to Tim Badham. Sadly the pic is a little small to see the remnants of paint that you mention.

Thank you all for clearing up my question much appreciated.

Ps a Suez scheme would look very very nice.

The latest Wrecks and Relics lists those in store at Shawbury as having been thought sold to the Indian Navy for use as spares.

I spoke to the seller about his Sea Harriers a few weeks ago.

Knowing the purchase price you will have to go a long long long long long long long way past the starting price to get the sold sticker placed on the canopy.

    Does look very nice though.

A friend who lives nearby to Brunty has just text and said that she has taken off and is heading in a southerly direction.

Wrecks and Relics latest edition lists it as being in Ireland at Weston Aerodrome with Christy Keane.

Jet Art sold an example recently which is the one on his www showing as sold.

They also have two additional Shars for sale at the present time. Have a look in this months Flypast under the news section it mentions which examples by serial. He also has a colour ad in the mag as well.

Alternatively you could always try this place for a Shar.

I saw an equally stunning Glider demo at Kemble last year and yes their was gasps followed by stunned silence then a round of applause.

Was easily the best act I saw all year.

Maybe Im missing something here but I find it kind of ironic that your suggesting we reduce the carbon footprint we leave when we travel to airshows to watch gas guzzling, emission ejecting aircraft.

Maybe you should save the petrol and reduce your footprint by staying at home and purchasing a DVD? :p

On a serious note I would put the idea forward that more people car share on the way to airshow’s than they do on the journey to and from work……… so in effect we may be a cleaner bunch than you give credit for. 😀 ( please note the environmentally friendly green smiley)

    John,

Lets see some pictures of your project when you get a moment – I’m sure there are many people here who would be interested to see what you have achieved so far.

    Bruce

    Seconded 😉

Martin – the Beech has a full set of Cambrai covers and wore them outside for 2 years with minimal problems – you should have come over to the SRA Hangar on the Brunters day!

Expensive but worth it – IIRC TFC use them

    TT

What popping over to the SRA Hanger would have been expensive? Geez no wonder they put you guys out in the middle of no where. 😮

It seemed such a long way in the driving rain though Ben.

We got as far as the Deloreon early in the morning when the hanger was shut up.

After that the order of the day was drive the car as near to the action as possible sit in it and wait untill something happened, then once aformentioned action had ended resume sitting in the car with heater on max. :p

Im possibly over at Brunty this sat if your around I will pop in.

The colour was apparantly chosen as it was the moost soothing colour for the pilot, chosen after much research from what I was told.
