Oi Martin/Phantom Phixer – did you know Dinky made a model viscount in the colours of the sister ship of your aeroplane?! π
TT
I did indeed squire and have one stashed somewhere in an orginal unmarked box.
Favourite model??????? Im rather partial to my Corgi RNHF Swordfish and Gemini Aces Mustang Princess Elizabeth. But so many to choose from in all honesty.
Curly boy, get yourself a display cabinet. Tis the only way forward for keeping her away from them. The to be Mrs Phantom Phixer insists on picking mine up. A lockable cabinet will shortly be stopping her with that naughty habit. π
Well volunteered PPhixer.:)
Do you know what sort of numbers would be needed.
Septic.
Im off work for a couple of days but will try to get some details together re price etc etc. The price would vary depending upon what time of the day/week we would want to do it and which sized screen we used.
The new(ish) town centre one or the one out by the M6?
Yes it would be one of those two :diablo:
There is always the option of organising a special screening of the film, whether it be at somewhere like Duxford or a local cinema. It might be easier away from DX as I’m sure it would incur considerable costs and a stack of terms and conditions.

Yours truly is the manager of a multiplex cinema in Coventry. If enough people were interested I could see if its a possibility.
Id be happy if Duxford announced in celebration of the event they were going to start the restoration of the Casa and paint it in its BoB film colours.
Once finished (pull out all the stops for an unveiling next year for the anniversary of the films release, yes I know its impossible Im having some fun) it could be unveiled to the public on the site of the hanger that was blown up during the making of the film :diablo:
Wow thats a very nice model youve spotted there.
If only we could we tempt him to make a 1/1 scale Whirlwind model :dev2:
I donβt know what advice I could possibly give to any aircraft owner. Maybe place a large sign under the cockpit canopy just stating that the aircraft is privately owned, is regularly cared for, and is not abandoned to its fate. You could maybe even date it and leave a contact number. None of this however will deter the elements that are intent on vandalism (and Iβm not talking about UE types here).
Trouble is Creaky would they read the sign, and if they did take note?
Our museum roped barrier around the aircraft, which to me without signs means stay this side of the barrier. With signs which we have there is really no excuse for crossing the lines without an invite. Joe public seems to ignore this more and more frequently these days. So what chance with the UE brigade. As an aircraft owner I worry about people ignoring these rules and the damage they may do. And thats not even mentioning the UE cretins. π
Did CM as we shall call him never show you his pics?
Was at Long Marston just before Chrimbo. Had a walk around the gate guard Sea Prince.
Surprised that its still very easy to turn the props and a decent bit of compression still in both engines. Lovely popping sound as the blades are pushed through.
Was working in the cockpit today and had a rummage behind the main panels. Appears some thoughtful chappie labelled all the wiring that they disconnected from the instruments.
Dont you just love fridays? π
Happy Birthday chap. Hope you had a good un.
Fair comments Ben and you are of course correct.
Certainly we intend to leave the side wall panels in situ as they have all the switch gear in and its still connected up.
Unfortunately the main three panels have a mixture of original, non original or just plain missing instruments and very very very little is connected. So from a removal point of view we are ok on that one.
Remember she was an instructional airframe and it seems in certain cases the lil tykes that were training on her didnt put things back together as they should have done π
Somebody mention the Viscount? π
Bad weather has meant that not a lot on the outside has been done as yet. But thats the same with most outdoor projects I guess. The big changes there will be when the good weather comes.
Internally a few jobs have been done but as she is not yet open to the public these will not be seen yet. Im presently working on restoring the co-pilots seat which is presently in pieces and stripped back ready for a respray.
I have also restored a pair of jet pipe blanks for the girl and some of the throttle linkages. In the next few weeks the instrument panels are coming out for some restoration work.
The main push has been on putting together an information pack that will enable us to approach companies with a view to getting a sponsor for her reassembly which is planned at somepoint during easter-summer 2008.
If anyone has any leads on potential sponsors for her reassemby please drop me a pm.
We are also negotiating a couple of sponsorship deals for other areas of the restoration which if they come to fruition will be a bonus for the project. Cant say anymore than that at the present time though.
Cor blimey, thought the Midland boys would have posted!:)
Midland Air Museum have a good second hand book section!
TT
Some of us were at work fella π
But yes we do indeed have a cracking second hand book section. We also have a very good brand new book section. I think Father Christmas may have visited there for some of my pressies
Roy did you never get the pics I sent to you of MAM G-ARYB?
Unsure if I still have them but if you require PM me and can get them done again on wed for you.
Regards Martin
