a program about the Old flying machine company ,I remember we all watched with interest the daily life of the OFC when it was going, seeing it going from strength to strength, and sadly its demise
Read last months Aeroplane Magazine Chris. There was an article on the OFMC. They are still very much alive.
Any of the Hawk sim? 😉
Discussed recently 🙂
Chipmunk Wing P.P.,I`m also restoring a 1949 Chipmunk WB556.Ah correction as not to confuse, the wing pictured if off WP790 and is looking for a mate if anyone can help.
Cheers. Thought the reg looked chipmunk.
They look fantastic Hindenburg.
Out of interest (and been nosey I guess) whats the airframe parts that they are sat in in the pics youve posted?
Funny, I used to have grandparents that lived in Bournemouth which would explain the frequent passing of this particular site. We probably took a similar route (from Rugby) as I can remember crossing Salisbury Plain with all the tank crossing places and signs with dire warnings “If you see a tank do not touch it – it may explode!”
I remember crossing Salisbury Plain. Although I saw the tank crossing signs I never did see any tanks.
You mean this one Tim?
Spitfire Mk.IX ML427?
1958 Museum of Science & Technology, Birmingham
1954 Gate Guard Castle Bromwich
15.10.47 Inst a/f 6457M
31.10.45 Sold to Vickers
31.5.44 Fighter Leader School
29.4.44 9 MU
…and totally wrong.
It is not the ex Charles Church Spitfire.
Charles Church had the ex Tom Voll Battle from Canada via Strathallan. It was substantially restored and potentially a flying project.
The fuselage and wing parts at Henlow was acquired by the RAFMus from somewhere to aid the the Iceland project, which had a burned out cockpit area.

Juest wanted to check you were not losing your marbles :p
Your very same picture is on this www.
Where did you find that?
Please dont tell me that it was on one of those threads I requested help finding earlier as Ive sat looking through them on and off all day. 😮
You mention 4F Jon.
Lookin at mine again the first prefix could either be my originally though 111F or just maybe a 14F. Does that fit in with what you see on your panel?
Also did Doves have ILIS? I wasnt aware that they did.
I dont think its just the moronic You Tube posters that should hang their heads in shame.
After at least two of the Duxford warbird accidents I seem to recall the national tv channels showing crash footage on their scheduled news reports.
Maybe they also can be accused of pandering to the freak element of the public who enjoy watching such things, but also the question has to be raised that had all family and friends been told of the loss of a loved one so soon after the accident whilst thier demise was been broadcast to millions?
Think I must have been making life to hard for myself on my entered search.
Show off :p
