My thoughts are unprintable on this forum :dev2:
Eastern Express kits are mainly the old 1960’s Frog kits reboxed. So what you are buying are very old models. Saying that though there is some gems out there and in some cases its the only option.
Revel have used the same moulds in the past the Sea Vixen, Shackleton and Gannet spring to mind.
Re Canberra’s the Airfix offering in 1/48 cant be far off now.
Lookin good there Bex. Had a look at your Multi Colour Air Force.
I see that Heidi is sticking to her civil stuff. Im tempted to treat her to a model of a Viscount to see what she would come up with. 😉
Looking good though. Love the Lightning. Even if it is a silver Lightning 😀
Spitfire XIV NH904 better known as Spencer Flacks G-FIRE was displayed through the 1960’s with its wings hacked of on top the roof of Oscar Dewachters scrap yard business.
Maybe a case of not what you know but who you know in the case of the OFMC example?
Have been driving past them (from a distance) on a relatively regular basis recently to and from visiting the Viscount and they are impressive buildings even from a distance. Can only imagine how impressive they would look close up.
Am I right in thinking one of the pair is in much better condition than the other? possibly as a result of it still been in use?
Happy Birthday Moggy. Hope ou have a good one.
And just arrived back 😀
No worries glad could help.
I had to double check as always get confused with the Gamecock and Grebe. Very very similer looking aircraft. The Siskin I was ok with, the type was built at my home airfield. Not a world famous aircraft though.
Well done to all involved. Having visited I can say the museum is a gem and a worthy winner. Nice one Ben 😀
Roger,
Yes something did go the other way to Duxford on loan and Ive been racking my brain trying to remember what engine it was but cant remember for the life of me. Sorry
“Thunderchief in 2003 (in the same place 4 years later and in same condition)”
I know I’m a recent convert to Duxford but I would suggest she’s a lil more dusty than 4 years ago. 😀
Bex, don’t forget Midland Air Museum also has a Duxford aircraft. We presently have a complete F-86A Sabre on long term loan. Additionally we did an exchange loan which saw I think (sorry Im not an engine man) a Junkers Jumo engine arrive on site at MAM on loan. That’s a Me 262 engine to me and you.
With Duxford I don’t see the problem in acquiring types for future restoration. They have purchased rare types that are now in line for restoration. You all know Duxfords quality of work and they will get worked on eventually there‘s just other projects in the que first of all. A problem ALL museums suffer from.
My personal point of view is yes its nice to see them all put together, painted nice and shiny but they are interesting exhibits as they stand. You can see parts that you wouldn’t normally see which from an engineering point of view is cracking, and it also shows the public that the aircraft on display havn’t always been pristine museum pieces.
First picture is of the Armstrong Whitworth Siskin.
I would agree with pic 2 been of the Gloster Grebe though.
W&R have it listed under JME Aviation which seems correct as it matches the Ebay sellers name.
Cheers for the info Pete. A quick look in the latest Wrecks & Relics says.
