Reminds me of the first Mustang I saw close up which was the OFMC aircraft in Empire of the Sun colours as Missy Wong from Hong Kong.

I’d heard he had emmigrated Blue Robin but nobody has been able to tell me what happened to the aircraft.

Ive been told his Dak is still in one of the Coventry Hangers gathering dust.

She was the first Phantom the museum had Peter and the USAF dismantled her for the Museum.

Unfortunatley as Curlyboy states the USAF didnt dismantle her as the book states. The Phantom has a one peice wing and on this one they cut the wings about a foot from the fuselage and straight through the spar, which leaves us with no easy way of putting the wings back on.

Its is a shame to see her that way but………….if she had been taken apart correctly and we had reassembled her would the museum have been able to take the more historic Mig Killer on loan? possibly not.

Im unware of what the future plans are for her as Im not privy to that information.

Im not even going to comment on how diff your area looked to sunday when it was wet and grey.

Had a wander around the hanger and was impressed hugely by the standard of your work. I would have said hello and chatted but you all seemed so busy putting up a door, or i think thats what was been done 😀

Nice pics Curlyboy and thanks for the kind words about our place.

Come and see us at the Midland Air Museum Royzee617, if you like your American aircraft you will be in seventh heaven.

Only place in the UK you will see a Voodoo, she doesnt do much for me Im afraid but is something a lil diff and a surprisingly large lady.

American wise we also have a pair ot T-33’s, F-104, F-86, F-100, huskie and of course the Mig Killer F-4 Phantom. Where else can you see such a line up? 😀

Ps nearly forgot the US Beaver we have, an aircraft that could no doubt tell a few stories seeing as she used to patrol the Berlin Wall.

OK Ive limited my wish list to five.

Spitfire Mk IX, as its one of my fav aircraft of all time. Pref in the Grace Spitfire.

Lancaster, would just like to reflect on the job our boys did from each position in the aircraft

Mosquito, pref a clear nosed example. At low level to recreate what it must have felt like going on low level raids cross country and over cities.

F-4 Phantom, purely as I spend enough time working on a static one I want to feel what one does for real.

Harrier, to experiance the full flight envelope and perform a bow in front of a crowd. Ok let me endulge my ego a little please. :diablo:

Well up untill now Ive been good I dont think Ive ever endulged in gratuitous Phantom or Viscount links.

I see you even got a Canberra mention in that post Bex. You just cant help yourself can you. I may start a swear box for you. Everyime you mention the Canberra in a non canberra thread you can put a pound in the Viscount restoration kitty.

Good luck with the DA42 Blue Robin. If its what I think it is a nice bit of kit and very racey looking as well. Are we likely to be seeing you at Nando’s anytime soon matey?
