I believe the daredevil presenter is a former Miss Northern Ireland.

I was at Bognor Uni for three years (I tell most people I was at Chichester, it sounds better 😀 ) and never knew about this one.

Where abouts in Bognor was it?

Thats what makes the forum so good Paul that we can discuss the diff views we all have. Normally without it turning into a slanging session 😉

Seeing the Shackleton’s internal pics made me think hard about the aircraft Ive just purchased with a friend and made me realise that there are people like this around and she does need to have proper locks installed.

I would be gutted and rather annoyed if I found pics of the Viscount on the www in a similar manner to the Shack’s (which is just down the road from me) and those that know me will testify for how I can blow a fuse and want blood when I sense an injustice being done. :diablo:

I just think aircraft, buildings, installations whatever we are discussing do belong to someone. And Ive found in the past if you ask nicely you will 99.9% of the time get a positive reply.

Remember if you do go invading peoples property it may mean the next person that comes along and asks to go view that object will get told no because of previous tress passers actions.

Lecture over. Climbing down from high horse. 😀

“It’s not UEs we should be condemning”

Im sorry Paul R but In my eyes the UE’s should also be condemed for their actions.

Gates, fences and the like are there for a reason which last time I checked was to keep unwanted people out.

I have been to Long Marston recently and would have loved to have got nearer to the aircraft but I have been raised properly so that I respect people and thier property. My picture’s were taken from the right side of the fence and didnt suffer because of it.

But then again Im sure if you arrived home from work one day and found someone had climed over your garden fence uninvited you would be ok with that and offer a warm hand shake to the so called urban explorer who was misinformed about the status of your property. Some how I thinks not.

Trouble is Dave there is only so may people that want to get of the keyboards and volunteer to do stuff. Also many volunteers also just want to play with the planes and not do the mundane day to day yet important tasks like cutting the grass.

I guess the other problem for Long Marston is that they have a couple of other museums not a million miles away. Midland Air Museum and also Wellesbourne are all within a stone throws distance.

At least the pod of the Sea Venom is indoors. Or it was the last time I heard.

Although it is dissapointing to see what is happening to the aircraft as Roy states they are not breaking the law in anyway. Comments like that should be saved for the true law breakers of the land. Naughty Roy, and also Bex for being so easily led.

Another way of looking at the issue is that there are a large number of these airframe types in preservation around the world. We have Hunters, Whirlwinds, Doves/Devons in abundance.

Now I know that preservationists dont want to hear this or even admit it but we can’t save everything that’s sat in a field and there are plenty of other rarer airframes around the world that people could be getting passionate about saving.

Im not saying that these aircraft dont deserve better as I think they do, but they are owned by someone who has a legitimate right to do as he/they desire.

Sad guys isnt it, We tried and failed to get one of them out of there.

I posted some pics on her around about chrimbo time if you fo a search.

Before me and Rob were made aware of the Viscount we finally purchased one of the types we really wanted was a Meteor T7 (yep not much of a differance) and we did do some delving onto the availbility of the example at Long Marston.

Our enquiries were met with a reasounding no, as had we later found similar approach’s from other groups.

The below info I was told by two very differant sources so maybe true may not be, but I am led to believe the following.

The Meteor owner wants to keep it as an investment for his son.

The remaining airframes are owned by a father and son who now prefer to go fising on sundays.

As I said unsure about the amount of truth in the comments but either way nothings going on with them.

Im not a fan of helicopters but Ive always been rather taken by the Wessex. Ugly but comes with bucket loads of character.

What condition are the two airframes really in as its hard to tell from the photos on the link Ben kindly added.

Im also guessing the Wessex would be the easier of the pair to move especially if the main rotors can still be folded back?

Daz and Bex dont get me wrong when I say this as I do understand your dissapointment in school trips but I am glad it wasnt just me that had rubbish trips. :diablo:

    Nice pics Brian.

Love the one of the kids in front of RW386.

Their faces say it all. And isnt it great that the Spitfire can still light up young peoples faces like that. Reassuring for the future of historic aviation.

Ps Why did I never have such good school trips.

Was a GR3 kit I was doing Bex. Time hasnt allowed me to do anything on it yet other than get down to Wittering to snap their gate guard and look on the net to see what detail sets to get for it.

Being 1/24th though all the sets are so bloomin expensive, but as the kit is old and expensive it needs something to sex it up a bit.

Will have a look at the technicolour airforce. Maybe you should ask if Mr V will allow one of his real aircraft to be painted in one of your….errrr….unique schemes? :diablo:

    Cheers for the compliment Cees,

Its based on the 1/72nd Hasegawa kit. Spent ages detailing the internal cockpit areas only to find once the fuselage halves had been joined you cant see ****** all.

There was indeed a Handley Page wing tested but this is representing the Folland wing they installed for reasearch purposes.

My item is using a modified Airfix Gnat wing corrected dimensionally. The frame work around the base of this wing has still to be constructed which is why she is looking a little basic at the minute.

Other than that and converting the rudders to represent the Lincoln type that PA474 has fitted she isnt far of being finished. All I have to do is find the time.

Its funny so far its taken me longer to get this far with the kit than it took them to do the major on the fullsize 😀
