There is method in my madness and I promise that Im not been a cheap skate.
Cheers for the help. Ive only seen black and white stuff so far in the Crowood book.
Love the Rotol advert. Very nice. 😉
Built better than most Fords I guess. 😀
Cheers for the info. I too had seen mentioned in Wrecks & Relics that it is allegedly up for sale.
Surely the most atractive of the Meteor variants. Especially if in the old RAF Vintage Pair colour scheme.
I seem to remember as a young I loved it so much because my Dad despised the scheme in an equal measure.
I seem to remember comments along the lines of it shudnt be allowed.
But yes it did look the dogs danglies as they say. Stunning.
Although saying that the Hunter and Sea fury also looked pretty good in similar schemes.
Will keep a not of your contact details Mark. Sit waiting by the phone and the contract is yours. 😉
So we all like to see accurate paint schemes that have previously been worn by a specific type of aircraft? That is what we are saying isnt it.
So when I win the lottery buy myself my long desired airworthy low back Spitfire XIV I am then able to paint it as G-FIRE without everyone moaning?
I will after all be sourcing the correct shades of red, white & blue. And remember a Spitfire has already worn this scheme so it is historical no to ways about it.
Arnt I naughty with my big wooden spoon :diablo:
I will not roll my eyes at yet another Douglas Bader thread. 😀
I will also try to improve my grammer before I post. That will be hard having had a Coventry education. But I will have a go. 😀
As someone who also observed from a distance and didnt comment on the previous thread I agree with Kev35 and say the forum is indeed a source for a great deal of information.
Im certainly a lot more clued up on the in’s and out’s of Spitfire nose trim instruments.
On a seperate issue does anybody know where the Anson went that Mr Adlam had up for sale on ebay recently?
Its Long Marston near Stratford.
The grave yard was discussed recently and I put on some pictures that I had taken about that time. Try this link it should answer your questions.
Seems some people just had to much time on their hands 😉
Now that would really have been the UK’s ultimate jet warbird. I can hear the Vulcan boys noaning now at that comment 😀
Wonder if the CAA would have allowed it to happen though?
I know that the Old Flying Machine Company own or did own a UK Phantom. Was that purchased with the intention to fly on the civil register or was it just to have an aircraft that Mark had flown?
Yet as in other walks of life the minority ruin it for the majority
Very much agree with you Roy,
I have been in the market myself recently and although sources like wrecks and relics are an invalauble guide to sourcing an aircraft these publications dont hold all the answers.
In fact most of my leads came from people I know or through a friend of a friend.
To pool all that information in one source would be very very beneficial not only to prospective buyers but also with regards to saving airframes.
How feasible would it be though? I remember when I posted a thread enquiring about aircraft in srcapyards whilst searching for an airframe.
THe answers I received back (some being a little short and rude) were we dont do that on this forum as scrappies get annoyed about non serious buyers going just to look at an airframe and take pictures. The thought was these time wasters would just speed up the scrapping process.
Im sure there was somestuff out there I would have loved to acquired but missed out on as I was unable to find out details,
A vicsious circle 😀
Cheers for the info and the picture’s guys. Most interestingo to see how things have developed on former military airfields. Has anybody got an aerial view of the Long Marston airfield/runway? Please 😀
Dear Father Christmas,
I believe I have been a good boy this year and think I deserve something special. Please could I have…………………:D
Id heard that it had gone stateside. Shame that it was repainted though. So many US liveried Corsairs arpund. But then again it is down to the owners to do as they chose if they are paying the bills so to speak.
