Not at all Bex Not at all.

I didnt say anything derogatory about Helis at all. It was my partner in crime that said no to taking the pics of it. I sit on the fence with Helis Im afraid. Neither love or hate. Ive been

ARLG ye sthe other side is equally vandalised. Bear with me Ive been given a crash coarse in posting pics. If it works will have a port side pic (think Ive got one) and also an interior pic.

    Evenin RobL,

It was in ok condition mate. Nothing spectacular I think it would be described as.

Yellow 84 Sqd colours if i rem correctly.

Did try and take some pics but Rob Mac got all humpy. He isnt a heli fan and saw it as a wast of space on the memory card

    ARLG,

THese airframes are part of someones personnal collection. And whilst not in ideal condition they haveat least not been cut up by the scrappie.

Personally I would love to take the airframes of them. And I did look at trying to save the Meteor or the Sea Prince. However many people within the movement have advised me the owners will just not sell.

The aircraft shown despite being outdoors and dismantled do appear in sound condition. Although this clearly wont be the case for ever.

Unfortunately the sites Shack and Canberra arnt doing so well.

You have some atractive stuff at your place. Does the Gannet power up? one of lives ugly planes but nice.

    Cheers Bex,

Wasnt funny this man flue. I was of work for a week with it.

Thanks for the comments about the pics. Its sad seeing the condition of some of them. Id love to get my hands on the Meteor T7 or the even the Sea Prince. Both deserving of some TLC.

I will back Rob up and confirm it was indeed a serious bowt of man flue. But then again isnt all man flue serious.

Rob. Cheers mate for posting the pics. Maybe one day I will learn how to do it for myself.

Always forget about the Beau cockpit Bruce. Been upstairs she doesnt always spring to mind when discussing things like this. But yes your quite right regarding that item. I think youll find thats part of the reason the whole section sits behind a nice thick pain of glass. And to stop bits been stolen of coarse.

I think it comes down to managed risk at the end of the day and making a proper assesment and making a decsion based upon that.

I was under the impression though that, as is good H&S (yes ive done the first part of the BAPC course) practice all the aircraft in a museum should be checked for radiation to ascertain the risk to not only the public but the workers. All our aircratf have been checked and shown up as clear. Even our Vulcan tested clear and that airframe had a a Blue Steel nuclear weapon strapped under her for a number of years as part of the UK’s Nuclear Deterrent.

The instruments how I understand it are safe as long as they are sealed. Its only the dust particles that are radioactive from the paint. So if the instruments remain sealed they shouldnt pose an undue risk.

THe trouble is people hear the word radiation and panick. Lets be honest the risks are minimal and the level of exposure to Joe public would be very very small as the radiation is so low.

I think at that tender age as long as it goes together not not badly its happy days. Either as a play thing or hang from the ceiling item a kid is gonna be happy.

The earliest kits I rememebr my dad helping me with are a Heller Hurricane & Tempest, Matchbox Lysander.Marauder, Gladiator and Jet Provost. Im sure there was more but they were the ones that spring to mind.

Funny you mention the Hunter trainer XN923. Ive got one on the modelling table at the minute alongside a Revell 1/72nd Hunter I am converting to represent G-HUNT for a possible forthcoming magazine article. G-HUNT looks lovely at the minute in her all red colour scheme.

I know what you mean. Ive been put on the Javelin and aint worked on the Phantom for knocking on a month now. Everytime I walk past the old girl I feel guilty of not paying her enough attention

Your quite right Eric the Rapide is ex heller. But they ad the foresite to re-release the kit and look what happened. A good seller. Well from what I saw anyway. So backing up my point I may not have made to clear previous that good kits can be sellers even reboxed old ones. Old Dogs will not be and just deter further sales.

Maybe I was unlucky then Damien. All of my Buccaneers were warped in a big way. But saying that rightly or wrongly it has got a reputation for being like a bannnana. Saying that though looks stunning once completed.

Ive not started my TSR2 eeither. waiting for some nice resin and etched sets to arrive before I commence production.

Ive heard many stories like that Bex. Dont think its happened up our museum which is surprising considering some of the undesirables Coventry breeds.
