Cheers Dave will have a look on line. had already had a peek on Evil bay but missed them completely. Will try again.
I was always under the impression that the exhaust stubs were a slightly differant shape. Is this the case???
Hi Phil,
Not it wasnt me.
My only association with the Phantom is via the Midland Air Museums example. Although saying that work on her has been put on hold while I help RobMac finish the Javelin before the really bad weather sets in.
Once work gets underway again I will be doin a thread on her restoration as a couple of forumites have asked me to keep them updated. Seems a bit of interest in the MAM aircraft and the Phantom.
Dont know if youve got Robert J Rudhalls books on the Battle of Britain the Movie but there are colour pics in both books of Red nosed Buchons at Duxford.
Maybe a publicity shot or possibly even a deleted/edited scene?
Remeber Duxford was used in many scenes of the film. Most famously it was used as an RAF station under attack when the hanger was blown up. But the opening scenes of the film where the RAF Hurricanes decide to up and leave france as they are due to be overan by the advancing German forces was also filmed at Duxford. This including the false Chateu (sorry iff spellings wrong didnt do french at school) made by the prop makers was filmed at the south west corner of the airfield.
So in answer to your question youve got a few scenes to chose from so possibly diff coloured spinners were used at Duxford
Big Vern,
Ive sent you an email. Sorry not replied before but havnt acccessed the site via my home connection. Yep youve guessed it Ive been mis using works time.
To everyone else that has taken the time to reply and offer advice a big thank you. Ive now been able to source some excellent information which will help me along with the project. I will of course keep you all advised of the project once it gets underway.

Hi Phil,
Anything of the Mig Killer Phantom im working on at the Midland Air Museum from her service days. Serial number is 63-7699. If so be very interested in those pics.
Regards Martin
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the pointer to the pics. Very tempting especially with the sample picture the seller has used. Surely one of the most atractive US colour schemes (special anniversary schemes aside).
I am very tempted to make a bid. Now wheres that blasted credit card gone.
Ok here is my top ten aircraft from WW2. Apart from the Spitfires at the top pof the list the rest follow in no particlular order. That depends on the mood im in.
1/ Supermarine Spitfire IX
2/ Supermarine Spitfire PRXIX
3/ DH Mosquito B.35/PR XVI
4/ Avro Lancaster
5/ Grumman F7F Tigercat (thinks its just allowable????)
6/ Hawker Hurricane IIc
7/ Gloster Meteor
8/ Lockheed P-38 Lightning
9/ Boeing B-17F/G Flying Fortress
10/ North American B-25 Mitchell
Fantastic video clip.
HAve been many times to watch her move and is most impressive.
The fact you are so close to the aircraft as she taxis and runs past makes the experience very worthwhile. The smell the sound and the sight. Well apart from stuff with Merlins on it cant be bettered.
Hi Bloodnok you would there be anything Vampire T11 in the yard?
Wouldnt have thought so as they sold all of the ones they had remaining in flying condition.
If you need any further info XN923 just drop me a message and can photocopy some info for you and post it off. Really is a good book. Unfortunatley they are indeed like gold dust as they are so good.
Congratulations Bruce on the Vampire. Looks like a case of he who waits………….
What can I say apart from Im jealous that Im not sat in her as she moves but also fantastic stuff. Keep up the good work.
