just remembered Bravo Delta Models do a wooden pre painted ML407 as well.
you could try Hannants or Aeroclub. depending on what you require they should have something. That is im asuming its 1/72 or 1/48th scale. remember the style of lettering changes on the period you are modelling but they will do decal sheets with numerous numbers and letters on for RAF aircraft. Pretty cheap and lots of spares for future projects
I stand corrected XN923. he he
Ive got the 1/48th example and just assumed that the 1/72nd one was also for a Hasegawa kit. Interestingly mine is earmarked to be a yellow G-AIDN. I can hear the purists howling already.
I have to be honest I do prefer the Grace type canopy just looks nicer although I understand why the original hood would be better for training especially on landing.
Presently your only option is to use Brigade models conversion set. They produce a 1/48th & 1/72nd conversion. You will need to purchase the HAsegawa kits to use as the donor kit. the conversions are both for the orginal TR9 ie with the big ugly rear hood not the later Grace type hood as seen on ML407.
Rumour has it that a short run of resin kets will be produced in the near future of the Grace type two seater. If memoray serves me right its going to be czech master.
Ive just read the thread. Yes its a interesting one youve popped on her but not a happy one. As a Coventry lad I love watching these aircraft fly around on what seems a daily basis. Cant believe they may be going soon. Fingers crossed that its not the case. Also worth remembering that the Shack isnt a flyer.
Id looked on that page as well and cant find anything. The chap Ive heard it from is adamant that its a true story but no one else can recollectt it or has even heard rumours. I wouldnt have thought the runway was big enough back then anyway for a Vulcan to tak off. Unless it was taken out by road? Not a small job and surely would have left more vivd memories?
living in coventry I can confirm that 163 departed from Coventry early to mid sat afternoon (very impressively as well) but didnt see her return that day. Departed in an easterly direction. She came back in to Coventry sunday afternoon. The Air Atlantique Meteor wasnt up over the weekend
Any other info you can add to the story at all?
thanks for the info. What a terrible shame to hear the aircraft arnt really flying presently. wonder where the PT23 (cornell) has gone?
try a company called unitracts. they design retracting undercarriage units for a variaty of specific scale models and the quality of their product is second to non. they may not be the cheapest but at least you know your not going to get any hang ups meaning no belly landings. phew. They do mechanical and air units. try their site at

also have a look out for the old Radio Control Scale Aircraft Quarterly Magazine. Over about 12? issues Rob Millinship didd a build on the kit and showed how to improve the kit. He modelled it as P7350 from the BBMF. She looked stunning. If you want copies personnal message me and will fish them out and do copies. will have to be snail mail as have no way of scanning.
Whil I applaud the fact that so many of the aircraft have come indoors am I the only one that finds this hanging aircraft from the ceiling fashion very cold and uninspiring?
I like being able to see my aircraft close up on the ground not tucked up away in the rafters like an airfix kit. I find the enjoyment of visiting museums is in been able to walk around an aircraft on the ground. I feel that this way you grasp the size of the aircraft and also get to view its shape and construction a lil better. And yes the Cold War hanger at Cosford leaves me dare I say Cold as well. Sorry chaps it isnt for me.
thats def the one. I remember the huge tree you can clearly see in picture four. funny how time distortes the memory. Although I saw the aircraft in the dark and only saw it on two occasions until I saw the pics I was positive it was in a camou scheme. Did they ever repaint it at Sheldon or is my memory and the bad light in the corner it was in playing tricks. Great pics though and thanks very much for sharing them.
cheers for all the links that youve all posted re the Phantom Im researching. Any body got any pics in their collections of Mig 17 killer 63 7699 whilst in service? ive got a few ive found on the net if any one wants them putting up scream out and will do.
What about the cost of insurance?
remeber the probs Saslly B had at the beggning of the year due to crazy EU laws that put her into a daft weight category. result the insurance became unaffordable. How much is it gonna cost to insure XH558?
I think we should say a well done to the fund raising team. After all if they hadnt raised awareness even at this late stage we wouldnt all be breathing a huge sigh of relief and once more getting excited about the prospect of a Vulcan flying once more.
I think a lot of people on this forum have unfairly criticised the teams efforts at failing to get the required money when the project looked bleak a few weeks ago.
Well the team has managed it and well done to them for not giving up. Yes the funds werent raised as quickly as hoped but raised they have been. Maybe some of us take the respobsibility for that as we think well it doesnt matter if i dont put a tenner as the project is going well and the next man will contribute.
Lets hope a few people who moaned very quickly before are man enough to stand up and say yes they got it wrong, the fund raising team has acheived what it set out to do and dare I say apologise for some of the unfair comments made in the period between the shortfall announcement and todays great news.
