    Canberra seat

Any of you Canberra experts know anyone who needs a navigators ejection seat from a Canberra PR9? The guy who is selling the stick also has a mk4QS seat from the nose of a PR9. Saw it the other day and its in nice condition! He told me these are rare. Someone must need one for a cockpit project?

Hi John. Just to inform you. The new owner is the cockpits 2nd owner from when it was last on ebay. The photos of the section used in the last listing were in fact old and not an acurate representation of how it looked. The previous owner failed to mention he had stripped the paint from the right side. Again this was not mentioned in its last listing on ebay! The cockpit interior is as it was for the last auction. The host of instruments and parts never materialised after the last ebay listing! The owner never had a F700 so by advertising it as having full history was incorrect!! The seat which came with the last auction was from a jet provost not a lightning and had spent the last twenty years outside. This was so corroded it was scraped! The section is now far more complete than when it was last on ebay as the current owner has sourced many of the access panels which were missing. The present listing is very accurate.
I think its on at a very low price. Its the only surviving cockpit section of a Lightning F1 in the world! That alone has got to make it worth way more than £5K!

Had a look and the first one looks like It is the panel on the front left hand side of the sea vixen fuselage. This apears to be where Navy maintenance serials were painted but I cant find anything which contains a R or1/I. Any one got any ideas as to which sea vixen this panel came from?

    Hi Bruce

Well, there’s some handwitten stuff, “DHC 10” and “DHC 45” if I remember correctly, rest is a bit difficult to make out

She is not being scraped. That was a incorrect story in the local paper and was also reported in the briefings section of fly past. The owner has no intention to scrap the aircraft and it is staying where it is. That is according to the local council planning department who spoke to the owner last week.

I think those coffee tables are fantastic!! If I could afford one I`d have one in my living room no probs! Makes a change to the usual run of the mill chipboard crap! The bloke is obviously aiming at the Aston Martin brigade who have got the cash to be individual and buy something different! Good look to the guy!!

Apparently bike brake assembly on R/H side of seat could be emergency control to release bungee mechanism on back. This would be pulled in an emergency under ‘G’ allowing seat to spring forward to assist occupant to get up in order to parachute out. This is according to ex RAF friend of mine. Looking at handle assembly it seems to have traces of red paint which indicate an emergency control. I dont know! Any one got any ideas?

HI Mantog. Would say its definatley twin cockpit seat .Prob left hand seat as r/h armrest folds behind seat to allow for easier acess.Component on rear of seat made by Teleflex ,see a lot of teleflex components being used on 1960’s aircraft. As for aircraft type im stumped, would say military may be even a helicopter. Any one else got any ideas. Wilf
