Dude get a pair of glasses. I said they will take out PN’s surface fleet. Never said anything about 1 on 1 sub fight. Yes PN will get 6 new subs unfortunately for them IN also is looking for newer design as per their 2 sub lines requirement. I am banking on german Type 214 or Amur 1650.

PN is not spending $970 million on the P-3c’s. US is donating the P-3c’s (refurbished ones). PN did not set the price US did, I cannot imagine how a P-3c would in any case cost $120 million??????? Unless they come equipped with death star system thats an over inflated price. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/p-3.htm. Put the price in 1987 as 36 million even with inflation it cannot be more than 50-60 million per plane with all the gizmos.
In the last papa you are basically stating what I have been saying all along. PN will be restricted to the pakistan coast except the subs, while In would only venture there with Il-38, P-8’s (in future) and mig-29k and Su-30 MKI escorts.

Are only 3 of these destroyers planned? When would the first one be launched or commisioned. Are these meant as replacement for the adelaide class FFG’s?

The scorpene is superior to agosta 90b in sensor suite and technology. I have never claimed agosta 90b is inferior to kilos. If you go back and read I said that 3 subs is not a good enough deterrant since IN will not engage in 1 on 1 sub battle.

The latest P-3c or refurbished once? I was under the impression these are just upgraded ones not brand new. They are similar to the Il-38 with sea dragon. PN MPA have no protection and would be taken out in the first wave. Its much more difficult to take out a sub that a lumbering P-3c. Atlantique anyone?

The upgraded kilos are more than capable of putting the entire PN surface fleet out of their misery. Not to mention the land based targets.

The 30 year old IL-38 have better sensor suite than the P-3’s PN currently operates. How many years were they in storage without flying??

The subs as I said are a minimal threat. They still can’t take on a Naval task group equipped with ASW frigates and destroyers.

LOL yes, try the chinese subs for the loudest one contest….
The 3 agostas are minimal threat and IN can swat them like flies. Period.

If sub hunting was as easy as you claim. there would be no subs in any navy.

The last kilo was inducted in 2000. The last Type-209 in 1994. Unless you are an expert in *deleted* mathematics that would be less than 6 and 12 years respectively.

    Warning. Insults are unacceptable.

Who is talking of subs? I thought the arguement was over MPA’s. In sub pakistan has 3 good subs but India has 7-8 upgraded kilos and 3-4 Type-209 (I wish I knew the status of upgrade pgm). No comparision. IN will be stupid to engage in 1-on-1 sub versus sub fight. They will play to their advantage.

Heck pack the JSF, 800 F-22’s and some F-15 and F-16’s. But thats wishful thinking on my part.

That would be when the last of this MRCA plane is given to IAF.

When is the first F-22p supposed to join PN? I have seen 2007, 2008 and 2009 as the expected dates. Also anyone has definitive specs for these?

Nick if you are refering to P-28 then the order is for four not three.

    1) I thought it was 18 C/D and 26 A/B. I would assume these are additions not replacement since these would be the most technologically advanced planes PAF will have for the next decade.

Woahhhh I seem to have stepped on some toes:). Since I diverted the thread I guess I should answer.

PN sub fleet is currently 3 agosta 90B
2 Agosta 70 (will be retired when new subs come)
    The 4 daphnes were retired.
Some mini subs not sure of number. 3 is my guess.

So if the new 6 subs come 9 modern subs. Not bad by any standards. IN would need atleast 16-18 new subs to counter these and ccover the rest of the indian coast. So I guess its time to order more subs since Kilos retire from 2016 on.

    Talking to Me???????

Who do you think you are to calling me a) a boy, b) dump.

NO No I was ofcourse refering to the genius who came up with wikipedia as his “reliable source”. Not to mention Tom clancy.Relax.

Oh yes I saw harry’s post. It only validates what I said. The PN P-3’s are junk. The new ones have no protection so HANGAR QUEENS :p .
Oh BTW I don’t visit the **** deaf and dumb forum, so there is no way I would have picked up a quarrel with anyone there. 😡
