LOL wikipedia is the best source you could come up with. Boy you are as dumb as PN.
    http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/NAVY/Tu-142.html
Defense News reported in March 2004 that the Indian Navy had requested new avionics and electronic warfare suites for the Tu-142, for the detection and interception of surface vessels and submarines within a range of 150 kilometres, as well as the capability to detect mines and carry out long-range and long-endurance surveillance.

Yeah rite so the super super subs and ships pick up the noise from 150 Km away???? Boy PN is lucky not to have you in its ranks 🙂 By the way BR also has details on some upgrades for it though I am not sure if they are already completed.

The IN is very happy with the sea dragon suite. Stop pushing ancientt bunkum. When PN’s P-3’s were storred due to sanctions the IL-38 was still flying and being upgraded.
IF IN was not happy with it they wouldn’t be looking for more IL-38 SD’s from russia. Oh BTW they already rejected the P-3’s. I am sure there must be some reason for it.

Its up to you to believe whatever you wish about the american sonar or whatever. But PN P-3’s are hangar queens and the asw component is like a sword with no shield or may be no sword just shield. Thats the best analogy I can come up with.

LOL picked up by a submarine????? That is indeed news to me. Which super duper sub of PN is equipped with a air search radar? IN’s Il-38 were all being upgraded regularly unlike the hangar queen P-3’s of PN. Yeah right as if australia, japan etc would have bought any russian stuff?? When did iran acquire the p-3’s before or after the revolution?? Russia even refused to sell a simple fighter jet to pakistan why would they sell ASW planes?????

IN planes would be flying their normal sorties escorted with IAf and IN planes while the hangar queens P_3’s will be in hangars or at the bottom of the sea. Period.

Do you know anything about the Sea dragon suite or simply pulling facts out of your as-s? Tu-142 outclasses the P-3c’s in range, endurance and load carrying capability by a huge margin. Fact remains P-3c’s during a war would either be shot down or remain hangar queens unless PN goes for a dedicated squardon to protect them. Lets just say I don’t trust PAF with the job.

Aussie hornets are C/D models right? Not E-F or super hornet.

I doubt russia would offer Irbis to Su-30 MKP or whatever. I assumed it was marked for su-35 and MKI upgrade. Current russian-iranian relationship is not what I would call ideal

Which of these super duper J-10, Blunder or F-16 do you expect to last 2 mins against the MKI or even Mig-29K?

My point with IL-38 and Tu-142 was that IN has currently more capable MPA’s than PN.

You keep repeating my point. Once PN see’s IAF and IN fighters the P-3C’s will be hanger queens, no more no less. Since you have already included weapons pakistan will not have for the next 5-6 years, lett me just add a couple more to change the picture completely, KS-172 and Barak-2. P-3…sitting duck.

    When? I don’t think they can carry Mig-29k, N-LCA and F-35 together.

Currently PN has only 3-4 P-3c’s. Even a ground based Su-30 MKI or jag can take them out with relative ease. They will have to operate near their own coast if hostilities break out.

I remember reading somewhere that ACM clearly ruled out F-35 ever entering service with IAF.

I didn’t hear anything about codevelopment either. I Think some Indian designed system will be installed but thats it. IN would of course love to integrate the Kh-35 and Brahmos with P-8. A harpoon or any new missile would not cut it, not with new brahmos variant planned.

I think our navys tactics might involve trying to avoid letting P-3Cs get into dogfights with MIG-29s!

I assume they may operate withing fighter cover and at our Gwadar, Pasni and Masroor airbases. Also, PAF has just signed a contract for air refuelers according to PAF ACM.

10 Harpoon equipped P-3Cs woukld be a signficant threat to ANY fleet.

I doubt IN would operate without the carrier air arm. Since the only fighter that might escort the P-3c would be mirage-3/5 or JF-17, P-3c’s would never actually be able to reach closer than 200-300 Km before they get shot out of the sky.

Not to mention IN operates more Tu-142 and IL-38 all equipped to fire sea eagle and Kh-35.

Does anyone know what are the features of the Type-209 upgrades that IN subs are undergoing? Do they include missile firing capability?

What does Pakistan’s current sub fleet consist of? and if it’s the right thread to ask this, how many upgraded kilos is India operating right now?

6-7 kilos have been upgraded and the rest will be upgraded before 2010.
