I am not sure why you seem to think IAf will go for US fighter. I am pretty sure that will not be the case. F-16 will never be selected by IAf and F-18 despite the aesa is a so-so product. I see this MMRCA going the euro way. If they can accept 126 US made planes they might as well accept LCA with F414 or better yet scrap the air force.
Here’s a much more comprehensive list – http://orbat.com/site/cimh/iaf/IAF_1971_kills_REV1.pdf

Swerve, Pak officially admits to only 2 F-104A losses A2A but whats confirmed is that the other 2 F-104As did get badly shot up at the least.
Incidentally, Wing Cdr. MSD Wollen fired 1 K-13 after another at an F-86F in 1965 and missed. He had no guns so he tried to brush his aircraft against the fin of the Sabre. The pilot, S/L Muniruddin Ahmed went “Bbbbyyy gggooooood… he nearly hit me!”. Similar things happened in 1971 when S/L Mangat wanted to ram his Sabre target in frustration.
Thanks harry. This is a find. 🙂
Which AESA radar would that be?? Unless I am mistaken the fastest AESA radar IAF/IN can get would be the EL-2052 and then perhaps the irbis or follow on. I am not really a fan of F-18, so am not taking it seriously. Maybe I am wrong But XL looked a little like Rafale from certain angle. I hope IAF goes for this one or eurofighter. When Mig gets the aesa ready we can put it on the SMT and K’s. Thats more than 100 aircrafts.
Oh my the next nobel laureate from pak-i-land. You surely deserve a hilale-pakistan.:)
No the article was saying that. You should learn to read. If what you posted is correct and I do believe you on that then these were grounded for 5 years due to lack of spares.
You have turned PAf and PN into a joke for all to laugh at. i am sure IAf and In could not have done a better job. But then they are not PAk centric:)
Yes because they have common sense. See placing Su-30 MkI or mirage 2000-5 in TN against sri-lanka might seem a little provocative. I wonder why the Mirage2k’s were based in cental india and why tezpur AFB and Kalaikunda AFB are required?
By your reasoning I guess IN ASW assets are completely Sri-lanka and SEA centric?
And who might that be? Other than being proved wrong everywhere and blowing hot gas about PAF and PN which only helps others expose their weakness what have you achieved?
Err why would they be based any where else? They are all based on the border not just pakistans border. That does not make them pakistan centric. You are making no sense. The joined excercises are meant to increase interoperatability and rajasthan is the easiest place. I assume that next you would be saying since pokran is in rajasthan india made the nukes to deal with threat from pakistan?? I think its very clear that nukes were due to threat from china.
Stop spouting rubbish. They are based where they are required. I am sure PAF would love to have IAF based in south India or andamans, but then IAF is not dumb like PAF. As I said practising just for PA or PAF or PN is simply lowering the standards.Enough said.
The IA armoured units are useless in coastal areas as we have no one to fight in sea and cannot fight in the himalayas. A joint excercise in souther or deccan is difficult due to high desity of population. The only other area left other than that is North west aka rajasthan.
PA and PAF are very India centric and there is nothing wrong in it . After all they had to shamefully surrender to India. IA/IAF are not pakistan centric because it is simply lowering the standards. Why conduct excercise with USAF,USN, French Af and Navy, russians and british if PAf, PA and PN are the only threat?? Why travel all the way to alaska for cope thunder? All the AF’s there were better equipped than PAF.
Good remember that in IAF/IN threads. 🙂
So it means that the P-3’s were grounded for lack of spares and only now are able to fly?
Really? Where did the Cope India excercise take place? IA/ IAF practice near rajasthan because it is a vast desert with very little population. Not because pakistan is next to it.
Since we are continuing on MRCA. Some people in BR are really streching their imagination by including F-16 XL. Was this fighter ever operationalized?
Here try this kill list for IAF from 1971
http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/History/Misc/Kill1971.html
It shows 4 kills against F-104.
I am not sure about no ToT. Then why not just go for rafale from france and get snecma involved in kaveri.
