Does anyone know if the Jaguar IM’s have been modified to carry any other AAM than Magic matra? Since the radars are being changed to Elta 2032, would it be possible to have over wing Python-4/5?
I have no idea how germans work. But If the IAF insisted that phalcon be mounted on Il-76 and the AAR’s be IL-78 then no way they will go for this. It will pretty much be IL-76.
Never going to happen. A400M will never fly in IAF colours. IAF will pretty much go with IL-214 (MTA) for loads lesser than 20 tonne and IL-76 for heavy lift. A400M somehow seems to have a performance in between the two and it would make no sense to buy it.
I thought the astor was stand off radar for ground coverage. Does it work well at sea? Wouldn’t it be better for army than navy?
True, Su-30 MKI is a bargain at 55-60 million per ac. I believe 45 mil is the base price for this plane.
I seriously doubt 30 million per plane. That must be without any support or weapons. IN paid 750 mil for 16, which works out to 46 mil per pop.
I hope they order more MKI’s 250 MKI would be great for the IAF. The MRCA seems to strech out but I am confident that atleast 2 LCA squardons will be operational before 2010. Then they need to really ramp up the production to meet the requirement of 200-220 LCA’s for the IAF. F-18 E/F is the same class as MKI, currently only rafale or Mig-35 looks to fit the IAF MRCA requirements. Heck if IN can operate Mig29K whats wrong with Mig-35? Save the money and focus on 5th gen with mig.
I they are looking to replace F-16, F-35 would be the logical choice. if cost is not a big issue it should be F-35 that wins this competition.
Rafale will still have a market in france as they need to replace all the mirage2k’s.
Thats only a award winning paper by an officer not IN. Anyway 24 DDG/FFG is way too less for IN by 2030. It needs to be more like 30. 1 LPHD also does not make sense they need atleast 2.
Hmmm US seems to be getting rid of all the old austin class LPD’s. Other than the two to mexico trenton would be going to india soon. Do they have anymore left or is that the last of it.

Indian Navy may purchase BAE Hawk trainers
The Indian Navy is considering purchasing 18 Hawk 100-series advanced jet trainers (AJT) from the British defence corp. BAE Systems according to aerospace journal Flight International.
sure IF PN goes from being a rag tag fishing fleet to the “Most technologically advanced navy in asia” over night.
The Algerian deal for Su-30 was a done deal. No way they will buy rafale. Its just too costly for them.
Oh wow a two month old BS article from BBC. How reliable!!
