Hello Peter
Not so much as a “need” to know but since reading many of the threads relating to rebuild/restoration projects to spitfires and of course the brilliant book on P9374, I am just curious to how much survived to become incorporated, plus having family ties with Malta I am alway’s interested in any Maltese history.
My apologies if I have I stepped on anybodies toes asking the question but I was not aware that it was such a sensitive area .
Regards
Jay
Sorry to be a pain but can anybody state how much of the original aircraft is being incorperated into the rebuild of EP122 ?

Hi all,
Just been on VMI’s website and all mention of EP122 has now disapeared, does this mean it will now be built as a stealth spitfire? :D:D:D:D
Hi,
Steve P thanks for clearing up the confusion I caused myself 🙂
Can anybody say or show how much of the original aircraft is left and will be used in the rebuild is it being kept under wraps for the time being.
Must say that the pictures of EE602 on VMI engineering website are very good, how long doe’s it take for a fuselage to be built?
Regards
Jay
Hi Steve “not the viz” 😀
So is EP122 at Airframe assemblies then?, and who owns it?
Regards
Jay
Hi
I was under the impression that it was at VMI engineering itself as the websites photographs suggest that it is..confused .com:D:D:D
After re reading the website it apears that VMI engineering owner Ian ward is also the spitfire owner.
Any idea of where is originaly came from?
regards
Jay
PS.
Paul, just to avoid confusion I am Not Mr Vizard although I do work for AA. Steve is not too well at the moment and i’m sure everyone here wishes him a speedy recovery.
Steve (Phillips)
Hi
Think you should always write” steve not the vizard but the Philips ” after any post so not to cause any confusion :D:D
If you read the whole thread everyone from the original post who replied already seemed to know the answer apart from maybe black knight and myself.
If people are so convinced they are correct why not name the person.
Its called the law which stops people from naming the person they feel is the culprit on a social network, you only have to compare this thread to this weeks debates regarding how much naming comments have cost the BBC via twitter and how police are already involved in tracking down those who repeated the tweets about a certain Lord.
To say the name over a coffeeto another person is one thing but as soon as you put it in print you are open to liability.
However I would feel better that those who know have informed or at least involved the police and asked for a in depth enquiry into the selfish individual who denies the future generations of our history!
Hi all,
Thank you for your inputs..slowly getting there, have been told that 36162/49
is the gun heating end pipe, one in each wing .
Now only a few to go now lads 😀
Regards
Jay
Thank you gentlemen, I had another look at the last 2 and found the numbers 361 in the smallest of them but that was all, nothing on the bigger one.

Jay
Perfect just perfect..exactly what I was seeking..many thanks
Jay
[QUOTE=.Some people seem to think the Words Spitfire and original seem to be a license to print money !!!!!
Spitfire – Block Terminal for Starting Leads, 30036 Sht 92 or 26AJ/26192[/QUOTE]
Wholeheartedly agree with the above but on evil bay every aircraft instrument is from a spitfire, as well as every part has come from a spitfire despite it being clearly from the titanic :D:D:D:D
Are you seeking one of the above terminal block Mike or are you having a suttle go at a site?:dev2:
Hello Mark,
As per post #11, I dont have the part of longeron myself..wish I did.
Sorry I cannot be of assistance on this one.
Regards
Jay
At least one was broken up at 6MU, Brize Norton
Thank you Tony, any idea which one?
Jay
Yes I can understand that VS did not change the part number just to use it on another mark of aircraft..using the old saying “if it aint broke then dont fix it”
However this piece of datum is made of far thicker material than a standard late mark spitfire datum longeron and clearly stamped 371 and looks a slightly different shape as well, so may have come from one of the few Spitefuls built and was broken up soon afterwards,as the oxy torch marking is very clear but would have been nice to tie it to a particular aircraft.
Any idea of where these Spitefuls were broken up?
Regards
Jay
