Seeing we have spent the best part of 7 years in our free time,at no cost designing the spit from scratch in 3D some of the info we didn,t have at the time. Will easily correct the length 🙂
Cheers
I speak on behalf of many who say your all have done a bloody marvelous job so no one is having a go..buts its the beauty of sharing information via the forum..finding out those titbits of info we normally would not have.:D
Original tube length is 533 mm
Seeking the following for (yet another) replica spitfire project 😀

Hi
Will try and dig out the column out and take off the spade grip assembly to measure it.
Never heard of a spitfire replica spade grip which you have to convert to a spitfire grip..sounds like a story in itself 🙂
Would enjoy seeing pics of your progress…I still have one orginal chain gurad but the brass top was used in the restoration of my own column.
Would recomend you contacting rocketeer,I understand he knows a lot about Hurricanes.
so even Spitfires are now in that foriegn stuff, whats wrong with the original good old pounds-shillings and pence?
regards
jack…(BSW,BSF,OBA.)
Hi Jack,
Only down under mate… where men are men and sheep are scared:D
Hi Cornovill
I only came accross the drawing whilst looking through my drawings which was sent to me along with many others some yrs ago,I have original column including guards but missing all the gubbings at the bottem so very interested in how you have over come this.
Just been informed that it was used for slipper tanks on Spitfire V onwards and rear fuselage fuel tanks on Mk XIV,MkIX,Mk XVI and other late mark Spitfires/Seafires also the the leading edge tanks for the PR spits .
Thank you to all those who assisted.
Hope this drawing helps
[QUOTE= What happens if they take the pilot out though??[/QUOTE]
Well without any past experience the odds of the aircraft crashing in someones back garden may be a little on the high side 😀
Hi Bruce,
Thank you for the above.
Thank you Bruce, Have also been told that it was used for main tanks use between frames 7 and 8.
