Fantastic and interesting thread, got me thinking is there any UK company that produce non working replicas of the type that was fitted to Hurricanes and Spitfires complete
with inert .303 bullets with links.
When purchasing my copy had to check twice that I was not buying PC pilot :highly_amused:
Runway06,
Thank you for the heads up but I always find spitfire spares OTT with pricing.

mmitch,
Thank you for the link, however have been told privately that any questions regarding aircraft that MAPS has worked on owned by the RAFM should be addressed direct to the Museum due to data protection.

Edgar,
Thank you for the information, I had hoped it was from the early spitfire prior to the introduction of the BP glass, but looking at the photo of the spitfire at Cosford its clearly not, does anybody have any information on the type which is fitted to the Cosford one just out of curiosity?

Hello Jules,
Thank you and what a fantastic display, there is no plastic residue just some discolouring on the glass which led me to believe its only been a single pane, the seller has let me have it for only £5 so not complaining, if it was part of a laminated glass, which one- internal or external type?
Where did you get all the artwork done for the different aircraft that is displayed with the parts.
Again thank you
Jason
Thank you AM maybe not however please read the word” given” with in the original post..if its free then take it in my world
Hello,
It maybe my photography which makes you feel it is not symmetrical and lack of colour as I placed it on a white board and took the shot from a overhead position, but from the basic measuring I have done it seems equal, can assure you its not new glass and has some dis-colourisation so do not feel its not a repro, if it is its a very poor one.

Jason

Hello All,
Thought I would post an update on the Harvard column I am now the proud owner of.
Have finally managed to clean up the spade grip, found the AH 2040 markings on the rear of the grip, with the column all I did was wash it some soapy water, followed by just using some polish, using the original threaded pins I re attached the spade grip, was also given a new machined brake lever for it.
Can anybody give me some ideas on how I should preserve it now, should I paint it black then thread some string around it followed by insulation tape to replicate the original covering, also any ideas where I can get the firing button and any other bits for it.
Thank you for any ideas etc
Regards
Jason

Pleased to attach a photo of the destruct button and switch in a Spitfire MkVb, one has to switch the toggle switch on, then lift the flap marked “DANGER” then depress both the push buttons at the same time.Hope this answers part of your question.

Jason
Aircraft,
The Following manuals have been digitised so far:
AP1565A Vol 1 for the Spitfire Mk1, AP 1565E Vol 2 repair schemes, AP1565 A&B Modification leaflets, AP1565 A&B Vol 3 spares listing , Swedish Illistrated parts manual for the MkXIX which is fantastic to read, AP1565 Vol 1 for the MKIX and the AP1565 Vol 3 spares listing for the MkXVI is currently in progress.
I also understand there are also Merlin and Rotal manuals which have been digitised.

Hello Stuart,
Many thanks for sharing this, fantastic find and very lucky to have it in your collection, I have somewhere( must look harder) a parts label from the IAC dated 1959 and refers to a part from Spitfire 159, which I believe was one of the 2 seater trainers they had..wondered if it was still flying?
Spent today sorting through original spitfire parts including some still boxed with the 26AJ part number and 300 part number on the boxes, have a feeling that Mr Adlam will be after your label for his site 😀
Regards
Jason
