Hi John….No problems with the misunderstandings its a problem with the internet and forums such as this in that you cant actually see the other persons expression to complete the full interpretation of our dry or dark sense of humour.
The main thing is though you found a corking spot and you didn’t follow the crowd to get your catches and it paid off .Dawlish springs to mind now of some where that has the same benefits of an ideal view and now every one and his wife and dog head there:rolleyes::) much to the annoyance of some of the enthusiasts…..JohnB.:)
You ought to come to Norwich they do it every day:eek::),by the way John the smiley denotes something was”supposed” to be funny.:rolleyes:and you dont have to have too many brain cells to see that either.
just the business, best keep your location secret or the masses will ruin it.:)
Well done Ant and matt, the line up one is lovely.:) P.s good to see you back as well EGTC
Nice and sharp.:)
Even some of your bad weather would be classed as good here,as most of our air-show days you can be guaranteed a dull or rainy outlook:rolleyes::).and most people who post on here would give there back teeth to have got some of those images if they were honest. Thanks again and I think I,ll be raiding my piggy bank and putting my granny up for sale:cool: to catch just one of your shows…
Such well caught shots from a location with a beautiful backdrop, the whole lot are my favourites:eek::confused::)….Thankyou for posting
Hi Gary….Another nice period outfit mate and it seems a bit of a speciality that takes a lot of your time.Did you say”MILDENHALL” the eagles lair:eek::)now that would be a great place to get some images:).
If you want the prop blur on your 500 use the mode dial and put it on T.V(Aperture priority)and set the shutter speed at about 1/250 for starters and put the ISO at about 200 to brighten things up.Just try and follow things as you see them and try and press the shutter without moving the body of the camera.I always hold the camera close to my face and use it as a buffer to keep it as still as possible.
That’s just a rough guideline and when you get good weather and better light you can experiment by reducing the shutter speed even more and click away to see what happens.:)I’m getting better at knitting 😀 and worse with my experiments on my own cameraHa,ha.See you about and good luck and maybe you will get to post some of your shots on this site..cheers..JB
No 6 is just so well caught.:)cheers and top shots all round….
Hi Gary…Nice to hear from you and glad you found the site and thread. You can download the photo from the thread or any that you want and was pleased you liked them anyway.:)
I’m not a camera/photographic expert but can help you with some basic problems so if your there next time and I’m about I’d be more than happy to help if I can,(there is a lot of luck involved)in getting some of the flying shots.:)They are a pretty friendly bunch that run the aircraft and Maurice and his team are always easy to talk too and ask questions about anything aviation I suppose.
That’s the beauty of these small events when the owners let the people attending be interactive and tactile with the machines and also let them photograph them up close. Also there is another thread on page 3 of the historic aviation page done by a chap called “tarkey” and there is some more photos.Anyway nice to have met you and might see you about there should you find your way there again.ha,ha….P/s The outfit was very realistic maybe you should give the BBC your name and there wardrobe outfit unit might get you some work, you never know
With the “past meeting the present” and the many folk in different dress modes at Hardwick from the weekend just gone I was most taken aback by all the events.Normally when the site is open on the third Sunday of each month just a handful of people can be counted wandering around the place and there is a sense of calm that can only be found in old airfields sites such as this.
Having arrived it felt almost like going to a major airshow:eek::) and have included a few extra shots to try and convey some of the sites that made me smile and think….lastly where else could you expect to find the Cadillac of the sky’s and the king of the road sharing sharing a parking space….

Thanks Mr Wiseman….It was a little surreal going on the site that weekend with a feeling of the past meeting the present and those not in retro attire feeling a little out of sorts..:)
Thanks Anna and Tarkey….By the way it was good to see you again, from the chap with the ladders..Ha,ha:)
Just a quick P.s.. the first photo of the lady by the mustang was taken last month..and the models that look horizontal aren’t actually as they were just taken that way to level them off,as you can imagine they were strapped to the side of the trailer and this will give you some idea of the scale of things, especially the sterling..:)
Like those and especially the “whittle”jet replica.look forward to some more from the site….:)
