Good of you to check back on an old map planemike and clarify which m/way it was. Will look out for the Woodford show but thought it stopped in 2000 with an attempt to stage one last one this year.cheers..john.b
Thanks Tornado64 for the interesting snippets in the last two posts, the flyover one now goes in the memory bank for pub quiz trivia answers.Ha,ha.Cheers.J.B
Yep we must have crossed paths that Friday or Saturday the show was on.Was that overpass in the background the M62 then as its now part of the M60 ringroad?.Its a small world when cross referring to the past in picture format and communicating in cyber space some 20 years later.
Its a long time before people say hello to each other,:) but a marvellous way anyhow to exchange views about the same event.(I’m an apprentice old git) and this technology never ceases to amaze me.Anyway I digress and those shows were brilliant, often with aircraft buzzing the control tower pretty low,a friendly atmosphere and a great canteen to boot.As soon as I dig some more slides up I’ll make an effort to collect up a few and will forward them on this thread….Cheers..JB
What a selection in that last pic Neil and I hope your patience and devotion has been rewarded with you getting some of your stuff published.one return without cash reward must be the fact that they are so enjoyed by a lot of people.I haven’t been much of a fan of civvy planes but your sort of images and enthusiasm can soon put people in the picture as to why these aircraft have so much interest.
In most of the photos of the 70s era it immediately transports me back to a time I felt safer and more at home in,rather than these war torn times where an insatiable greed by a few has left us reeling. So thanks for posting them and yes send them in when you can as I think retro aviation is going to be the hiding place for most enthusiasts in either civil or military spotting….Thanks..John.B:)
Get well soon Anna, and It must have been a little morale booster to you yesterday with those kind words from the colonel.here’s wishing you a healthy and happy new year….John.B:) keep thinking hazy Summer mornings with warm wind passing through your windows.Ha,ha;)
Thanks Keith and 92Fis….Thanks 92fis for date from other thread and yes keith it looks like a mutual snapping moment,it does happen a lot now these days.cheers….johnB.
Got to agree those were better days and the people a lot more relaxed and friendlier.Like the J.P avatar is it a favourite aircraft or did you work on them?.John.B
Hi Tornado64….Thanks for replying and you were in the area of time give or take the odd year or two.:)Zebra tailed F3 was courtesy of a tanker flight in 1990 and the sharks machine taken at Barton, Nr Manchester could have been the same year or the one after.
The phantom was the only early one taken at the Waddington photocall in 88. V.C10 at Leauchars 91ish and the chippy with the shacks in view was 91 at Lossiemouth.Jetstream and Herc both at C/Fenton and the other three shar/Viggen/GR1 all at Mildenhall early to mid90s.I put them up mainly to see what people thought of them quality wise and just picked them from a box load for being in half reasonable condition.Cheers.John.B
Thanks for nice comments about photos and its nice to see the real flyers take an interest in our hobby,cheers..john.B:)
Thanks Anna and hope you have a peaceful and happy new year.I will also be Nubibus in 2011.:)
Thanks for the info on your scanner and enjoy thoroughly the last few photos you’ve posted.I did a quick google on your 4400f and it gets a good write up and seems a good affordable option to go for after viewing the results you’ve posted.
As for the question of more of the same,”yes please”.:)Thanks….john.B
Lovely stuff trident man and yes,yes to your last remark.By the way those are quality scans what do you use?.
Paparazzi 1 lazy spotters 0.:) Well done again Keith.
Last three from me not unless I can find some more, the D/A 737 was caught out of focus but its hopefully got some interest for whats turned out to be a good thread.

Yes your probably on the money there with your observation civilspotter and am going back to the drawing board again to make more improvements.Your last selection are really interesting and well copied. Will get back to the thread when I’m happy with my next couple of copies which would be great if they could look as nice as the last five….cheers.john.b
