😮 In a word “No” but made my remark to highlight the fact the pilot was probably smiling just glad to be alive after a harrowing experience. When peoples lives have been threatened with a near death experience and they survive ,a lot of what they had previousley taken for granted becomes more precious than ever and the pilot was smiling because he knew his own life compared to any amount of money could not have bought him his good fortune.
Its nice of you to reply to my remark and bring to my attention your undivided knowledge on this subject but as in the case of the man who survived an atom bomb test I dont want to know the quantum mechanics in the phyisics department of how costly it was in learning how to split the atom only to think in the end it was an expensive way to blow the planet up anyway.(All a bit irelavent if your not on the planet).:) ;)
I’m glad I dont measure happiness on the smile per pound ratio as I’d be broke and would’nt be able to say to some its not money that counts at the end of the day.;):cool:
Nice Lear shot and survey Islander keith.:)
Norwich Airport
Next time I,m up there keith I’ll keep a watch out for your motor and see what the postman has delivered.:):eek:Meantime I,ll try and sort out a few more I’ve taken from that site and post on when I get the time.

Hello,
To Heslop1,Bristol Rob and Keithnewsome it was good to get some reaction from my photos and thanks for looking. No its not just a Geordie thing Rob but it was a bit of a coincidence to hear back from two local lads at poles apart on the old planet whos point of focus happened to be from the banks of the Tyne and not forgetting the Wear..
Its funny as young heslop highlighted the German farewell phrase of “Auf Viedersehn Pet” it would probably conjur me up as an Ozz charachter from the old series and it might not be from the truth as some mornings as I look like him after a night oot.Ha,Ha.:):):eek:.
I dont live far off from Sainsburys off hall road Keithnewsome and I might have bumped into you at one end or other of Naarich airport,Do you have a dark coloured estate as when I’m spotting up at the A140 end near the stirling office complex I often see that vehicle and a chap with a three step ladder taking some shots. There always seems to be an old pair of spotters there who say a certain postman gives them some good info.(does any of this ring a bell?)or am I way off the mark.
Anyway I liked some of your shots with the gliders in and I,ll meanwhile try and read some of all of your old posts to see what has a common theme of interest among forum bloggers.Cheers….;):cool:
Thanks to Steve and heslop1 for replying, its nice to know there are one or two Geordies aboot on the site.:):rolleyes:Look forward to more exchanges with regards to the niche forumites representing”The northern alliance”.So in my best Australian dial-a-lect,”C-Ya-Cobber” und aufedersein.:confused::)

Hi BSG-75….Look out for a book by J.T.Kingsley called “In the Red” with ISBN 1-85821-754-7.It details the life of the author as a pilot who served alongside Ray Hanna while in the RAF both in the ferry flight period when sales of hunters to India took place and also in the early days with the,” Red Arrows ” when Ray Hanna flew with them.
It not only gives an insight into life as a pilot in the 60/70s period of the RAF but the author gives some vivid and graphic accounts of his time flying the little Gnat at shows,in practice and some of the japes they used to get up to traveling with the “Reds”….CheersJB.:):)
Gooi avond
Hello Giel,
During my travels after leaving the army in 74 I wanted to work around Europe as I also liked ski-ing and worked down in Garmisch in Bavaria as a ski mechanic ,”basicly”(Ski rental) and learnt a little German.
After a spell there I moved up towards Holland for a couple of years and enjoyed my stay there and learnt a little dutch.I’m by no means fluent and took the opportunity to write a little on the thread to you as it was so novel to hear from someone over in the Benelux area.
I will try and look out for some more old photos when I get the time but work has picked up for me this week in my trucker job. Thanks for the interest and hows the air show scene in Belgium at the moment?.Send some photos to the thread if you have any from old shows from your part of the world,.Regards.

Thanks again for the feed back on the the other thread, the C135 photo was taken a while back at one of waddington airshow weekends.Steve you couldnt do a bit of research and find out from one source or another if the RAAF are going to send an F 111 over this year to Waddington airshow.
As you may well have read on the other threads we were looking forward to it coming over but there seems to be no clarity on what we might expect to happen where the show is concerned and if it might appear or not.All the best doon under Hinnee.:p:):) Cheers man noo its back tu thu Broon.:)
