Although personally, I like Rafale more than Typhoon, I see nothing wrong for Jon Lake to believe that his country owned fighter to have better potential, just like many French fanboys / journalists / fighter pilots / Chief of Air Staff believe that Rafale is better than Typhoon in every aspects, including the A2A combat.

Having a superiority complex for his country owned fighter despite the setback? So what? Do you want to tell me the Rafale supporters mentioned above have no such kind of superiority complex for their beloved Rafale? And do they admit that Rafale is inferior than F-15 just because their beloved Rafale lost the games to Eagle during the F-X competitions of Southern Korea and Singapore?

With my comprehension, in your view, the Rafale will replace Jaguar 1to1, ergo, there is a chance still remain to the Typhoon for replacing their Mirage2000 and MiG-27?

MMRCA is the project for replacing MIG-21 and MIG-27before 2017 and 2020, not for replacing Mirage 2000.

IAF shall replace its own Mirage 2000 and MIG-29 by the domestic AMCA after 2025, and I think Typhoon won’t have chance for such kind of replacement at that time……

Yep. It’s pretty hilarious how British MPs and tabloids have managed to turn an entirely honourable loss into a national embarrassment. The Foreign Office must be wishing it could crawl into a hole and die.

The UK government and media used the most innovate and creative ways that I’ve ever known to sell Typhoon during the MMRCA competition:

    1. Declaring that RAF will retire all Tranche I Typhoons after 2018.

    2. Declaring repeatedly that UK will not introduce Tranch IIIB Typhoons.

    3. Declaring that all partners of Eurofighter program feel happy for the ultra-slow pace of integrating AESA radar and A2G weapons onto Eurofighter, and then trying to persuade Indian to pay the bills for developing the AESA radar and integrating the new items ~ No wonder Indian finally decides that Rafale shall be a cheaper choice.

    4. Fake news which declared that RN is considering Rafale M, not Naval Typhoon, as a possible interim fighter for its new aircraft carrier ~ and this fake news had been emerged at the time just before India made its final decision for MMRCA…….

And now the UK prime minister swears that he will do his best to try to persuade Indian to believe Typhoon as a superb and better choice than Rafale……:D

Oman AF is looking for the Typhoons from RAF, which will not increase the productional number of Eurofighter.

It seems that Eurofighter has been kicked out of the MMRCA competition right now. However, Rafale still have some tough enemies for conquering before it can really get the big prize: Indian bureaucracy, treasury, and parliament.

So for the supporters of Rafale, I think it is still not the time for celebrating, but praying ~ praying that the deal could be signed smoothly during the April this year without being screwed up by any other accident.

    http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/no-decision-yet-for-11-bn-india-fighter-jet-deal/articleshow/11482944.cms

India has no timetable for the hotly awaited decision to award its $11 billion fighter jet deal, a defence ministry official said on Friday, and he denied reports that the government had contacted the constructors.

“We don’t know when the announcement is going to happen, so there is no point speculating when it will happen,” the official, who did not wish to be named, told Reuters.

Earlier this week some sections of the Indian media carried a report that the Eurofighter Typhoon may have emerged as the lowest bidder and that representatives of the contractors would have been called by the defence ministry on Thursday.

The official said that no representative of any company had been called by the government.

I guess it’s after business hours in India now. Has anyone spotted any Dassault/Eurofighter personnel coming out of the MOD with big smiles or tears in their eyes?

Only rumors of one after another….

    Toan,

    Your numbers make no sense!

There are 195 F-22s in all, plus two YF-22s. Not 2 plus 187. (That would miss out eight aircraft)

You can’t count EMD and PRTV aircraft as ‘productional’.

NB The USAF and Lockheed say 187 PROCURED including 179 production, six PRTV and two EMD (I think they mean six PRTVII and two PRTV).

They clearly count production as distinct from EMD and PRTV.

But there are simply not 179 PRODUCTION (eg non EMD, non PRTV) F-22As. There are 178.

I don’t know if this website can make some help for you:

187 fighters: all produtional Raptors from Block 1 to Block 40.

179 fighters: all produtional Raptors which are still alive for flying right now.

178 fighters: excluding the Raptors of EMD phase that were produced during and before 1991 (including the Block 1, Block 2, and 91-4004 ~ 91-4009 of Block 10).

There is still enough room for future manned fighters to improve their agility and maneuverability ~ The top fighters such as F-22A, Super Flanker, EF-2000, and Rafale today can only reach their maximal agility and maneuverability of 9 to 11G loading at low altitude and subsonic domain, and none of them can perform more than 6 to 7G maneuver without losing energy severely at the speed of more than Mach 1.5 and the height of more than 40,000 fts. So I won’t say that the manned fighters have approached the upper limit of maneuverability and agility until they can perform 9 to 11G maneuver in the speed of Mach 2+ and height of 40,000 to 60,000fts without losing energy severely at least one day:D

Well, Royal Thailand AF purchased six Gripen in 2008, and it prepares to get another six Gripen after 2013 ~ If six Gripens (or twelve Gripens after 2013) can have good point for Royal Thailand AF, then I see no reason why eight Typhoons can’t have good point for Bulgarian AF:D

Germany to Offer Fighters to Bulgaria~The deal is for eight second-hand Eurofighters

It is expected that during his visit to Germany at the end of January PM Boyko Borissov would receive an attractive offer for used Eurofighters, The Standart learnt. The first visit of Bulgaria’s premier for 2012 will be to Germany on January 17-18. He will meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel and during the private talks all bilateral issues will be discussed. During the meetings the details on the German offer for the fighters would be clarified. According to off-the- record information, the proposal includes training of Bulgarian pilots.

Germany is one of the four countries which manufacture Eurofighters. This is one of the most modern military aircraft in the world. The abilities of Eurofighter were demonstrated during the air show near the city of Plovdiv in September last year. In February, 2011, Bulgaria’s defense ministry asked about the bids all manufacturers of Eurofighter for the delivery of 8 fighters. EADS consortium which manufactures Eurofigheter made an offer of 80 million euro per a brand new fighter. Later on, another manufacturer of Eurofighter, Italy, made an offer of 35 million euro for a second-hand fighter.
