Clapton may well be God-like, granted. Big fan myself, (Crossroads fav track from his earlier days!)

    But Elvis is THE KING!

    Fantastic photos all you chaps!

I just wish I had the patience to get involved in photography. As Mr AiB would confirm, I’d never make a watchmaker!
Thanks for sharing these lovely images. It is a great skill you have.

    yup…he’s gone before us.

what gets me amused is all the modern day Elvis lookalikes who dye their hair black and grow the sideburns to try and look like the man and then they all without fail, ponce about in a white number with sequins (no doubt all carefull hand sewn on by devoted fans) and try and dance like the man.

what a load of sphericals !!!!!!

Elvis was at his best before the film / all white jump suit period and yet no-one tries to emulate him when he was at his greatest….check out the clothes for Jail House Rock…Love me Tender etc etc….classic Rock ‘n’ Roll stuff

Thats when he was at his best.

All we need now is a shed load of Freddie Mercury lookalikes !

I have to admit that, like you, my fav Elvis music is the good old fifties Rock ‘n’ Roll stuff, but looking wise he was at his sexiest in the late 60s, when he was in his early thirties. (Like in the film ‘That’s The Way It Is,’ yummy!)

Seeing that film and then how he was just ten years later is heart breaking…
    Ah well! 😮

Its probably because of my (young) age and the era I was brought up in, but I never really liked Elvis. Couldnt (and still cant) see what all the fuss was about.

Elvis; too young to die, too fat to live

I USED to have a lot ot time for you MOTF…

(Are you sure that’s young age??)

    PHILISTINES!

Without the Presley version, Costello wouldn’t have been around. And Costello would have the grace to admit that!

C’mon guys, you know it’s true.

I’ve posted this pic before, but I think it fits here too. Here is my Tiger with the unique name: CAT 😉

You can’t say that the name CAT is as original as Brussels isn’t it Comet , but …. euh 😮

    J.V.

    Stieglitz,
Your cat looks like our cat…also called Cat! As Patty and Mike J will confirm. Mr AiB and I got cat after she came in to our house one night and stayed (after I opened a can of mackerel for her, she’s no fool). She was skin and bone. That was over 10 years ago now.

Well you can rely on Patty, Melv…Not that you’ll need to, I’m sure.

Let’s hope ‘George’ doesn’t start deflating while airborne, eh???

    Andy,

Somehow I knew you had to be talking about my good friend Gary Austin. He’s without question one of the best warbird mechanics I’ve ever known or worked with. I helped him change an engine on FiFi a few months ago in North Carolina and I’m going home to Texas in February to help him work on her for a week or so.

I have to say as a person who appreciates nice eyes, that Gary Austin has the nicest blue eyes I have ever seen! I always thought that Paul Newman (actor, you know) had the bluest eyes, but (sorry Paul), Gary is the man!

I even told him so at the CAF Airsho in Midland this last October…poor man thought I was hitting on him (as did Mr AiB, Patty and Mrs Patty from memory!). Really, I wasn’t..! It just had to be said, so I did.

    (He is cute tho’).

A truly great film. Not too ‘rah-rah’ (if you know what I mean) plenty of grit and what else could a girl want in a war movie…Gregory Peck (Yummy eye-candy and totally at his best!)

Both Mr AiB and I watch it on video often, either together or alone.

The film always brings a tear to the eye as well as being really exciting.
Loads of B-17s and a great story.

    Definitely reccommended to see.

Couldn’t agree more, wonderful pics from Damien, Motf, Robbo et al.

These are a very talented bunch of chaps and when you think of all that they miss out on when they are at air shows (the relaxing, the chatting and lounging about) their work is greatly appreciated by all of us all on this forum. The results of their work are a pleasure to see.

Keep up the good work lads!

Surely more Hendrix should be in there?

Stairway to Heaven…granted, but Sweet home Alabama over Freebird without a doubt, it was much better. I would have Paranoid over Bohemian Rhapsody every time…(Paranoid sounds great thru’ my new iPod!)

    Well done to all concerned.
Look forward to seeing a display at the air shows next year.
Something to really look forward to.
Despite the studies, I’ll be there for this one.

Please keep us posted, those in the know…we need DATES!

    Thanks for the dedication lads.
