I think everything you say is entirely true and would be even more so if it were a purely photographic forum but it’s related to a magazine for the civil spotter/enthusiast and I wonder how many people who visit this site are a tad disappointed at the constant “repeat” subject matter from the same half dozen airports?
It’s just nice to see some stuff even from LGW and from a good position at that and I don’t think the contributor should beat himself up much about quality (within reason of course).

    Hi Andrew
Having not posted for some time I couldn’t resist this chance.I agree with Josh…..for someone apologising for their pics,I think they’re excellent and at least there’s some different material particularly the Montenegro FK100.
I take thousands of pics a year but really for my own pleasure.I’m not seeking critical acclaim but the one thing I can tell you is that if you want to get any published or accepted by the sites to which you refer it helps to have a full
(not partial) a/c and for it to be rare. There’s a danger of competing for the perfect shot of EZY or FR………remember an Easyjet A319 is boring and remains so however well one can see the Captain waving from the window in the partial shot………. or as Obama said, you can put lipstick on a Ryanair pig….it’s still a Ryanair pig!!

Most of the visitors to this site would be very happy with a “goodish” pic of a gem……..keep up the good work

As someone who is probably suspected of being a Ryanair supporter I’m equally outraged at the pretence that the credit AND debit card fee is somehow cost related when it’s obvious it’s a ploy to claw back fuel costs etc.I’m equally annoyed they pretend the taxes/fees are cost based……have a look at BRS-DUB where they mysteriously increase threefold on Fridays!
Nevertheless Adam is right and I can’t understand why true enthusiasts are making capital out of “cutting off noses to spite faces” by not using any airline which gets them to a spotting “Mecca” for a fraction of other’s prices……or do their actions really match their words?
Another problem is they’re nearly all at some sort of scam.I wanted to do AMS from BHX with BmiBaby and back to BRS on EZY as EZY have no double daily from BRS.Whilst Baby fare is the same whether I go one way or both, the EZY fare back goes up 50% if I don’t go out with them!!
One of the Airlines one of you works for has just been censured for advertising breaches……..if I boycotted every airline whose prices are manipulated I’d be on National Express!!

I think you’re all being far too charitable!Matt Le Tissier is a bloody silly name for a bloke let alone an airport.

Although it closed temporarily after the Glasgow incident, the terrace on the main terminal is now open again and is probably as good as any in the world for photography i.e.no glass or fences or restrictions on the hobby – railings are a bit like Schipol’s ballustrades. My brother is married to a Hungarian and was there a week ago but reports snack bar not open so supplies may be needed.Bear in mind the lo cost old terminal 1 is opposite side of airfield with no real views.so you need to get to main terminal if you arrive with Ryanair etc.

I can’t properly translate the article but, surely, laying off staff and mothballing a/c for the coming winter is something several airlines have announced and doesn’t (automatically) mean greater impending doom than the others?
Low cost competition and almost impossible fuel cost increases will,I’ll wager, see off several airlines in the coming weeks and I doubt SAS is near the top of the likely list.If Alitalia was already in intensive care, where is it now do you reckon?

A bit like British Midland the Northwest name had historical regional connotations whereas Delta is a “global” name that an airline anywhere could theoretically use added to which, prior to the last 10-15 years,Delta would have been seen as the best US airline by far even if Pan Am and TWA were better known.Indeed,I’ve never understood how they’ve fallen so far financially except, perhaps, they’ve not had the International OR domestic route structure that those in “alliances” have built up.

If all these assertions are true,as I’m sure they are,it does rather beg the question why did they retain this route in isolation, with the infrastructure that would have required,in the first place?I suspect the massive increase in fuel costs has a lot to do with it as does the fact that none of the US competition at MAN has yet given up the fight.T5 losses won’t have helped either.

Andy…………..I can’t disagree with your comments though I think to say to criticise the loss of something one has to have been a major supporter is a little strong.I think my point is being (dare I say deliberately?) misconstrued by some on this forum,in that it is because I agree entirely with an airline taking a commercial decision,I am questioning why so many enthusiasts see BA as still an “Airline for all the UK” and regard aggressive competitors almost as impostors.Apart from being a landmark in being the final Regional direct BA route, the one under debate is academic to my question but I’ve resolved myself to not getting an answer,or swaying people’s prejudices!

BTW – as a retired person I do not fly on business but am probably doing more leisure flights than most…..including last Fri and Sun and this coming Sat and Sun (from MAN with Flybe on an ex-BA route!!)

Actually,I’ve no problem with what is a business decision and I’m not essentially anti-BA,or any airline for that matter.
I think a couple of you understood that my “rant” if you feel it was one goes back months to the fact that so many on this forum (who I take to be aircraft fanatics like me) are so defensive of BA and so hostile to competitors to the point of wishing their downfall.
BTW,yes my reference to BHX etc was to airports where BA used to have a massive presence with based a/c and direct routes and, indeed, fought tooth and nail to keep it that way to themselves for half a century.
