The aircraft had never proved itself ,utterly failed o achieve what it was suppose to . Only 4 prototypes were built and none of them achieved full operational capability as they had been experiencing serious technical problems ! Everything about TSR-2 was on the paper. It remained as a concept only ,just like the XB-7O Valkrie .
By these standards F-35 should be in the bin 100+ air-frames first flew in 2006 and none them fully operational and and program still experiencing serious technical problems? TSR2 was never given a fair crack of the whip and was hampered by silly program interference from outside the the design team all the way along
Iran will only do what is best for Iran. As soon as IS becomes a threat to the hegemony in that country, they’ll start paying closer attention. If you really think the Iranian govt has anything but negative sentiments toward the U.S., you’re misled. IS is going to be a big threat to the U.S. no matter what Iran does. As long as the U.S. border remains open, there is a chance that islamic radicals from IS will board a flight to NYC or Boston. That is the real threat to the U.S. islamic terrorists coming in as tourists or on a student visa. I do agree that the U.S. has a large part to take in the responsibility for the current state of the region, but we are not the solution to the war of my god is better than yours.
Of course Iran will do what is best for Iran that is no different to the US or the UK or Israel and to think anything else is childish. However the US will never ever win this war in the middle east yes it can win battles and hold ground but it will never win any war the only countries that can win a war against terrorists are the Middle East countries them self
As for Home land security these people see their homes and towns bombed western forces at will of course some of them will be talked into give in a little back (and before anyone brings up 9/11 as not being a little thing of course it was not) but terms of large numbers of middle east people who die every day for the past 30+ years at the hand of western weapons
Like it or not If I.S is to be taken out Iran will need to be on side only those with limited fore sight will miss this point Turkey- Iraq- Iran and Syria hold the key to the long term defeat of I.S no one else and there fore limited but positive support is need by the west
and if Iran is flying operations in support Kurdish forces it means our boys and girls don’t have to and that is why the US should give Iran 10 or so Cobra’s and put side any long term playground sht
This was pointed out some time back on another thread and it would be a good place to start for the Scots
When it comes to air strikes and air cover this conflict affects Iran who has an up and running air force send them 10 high time Mirage F-1’s (a type already in services) from French stocks and drip feed them weapons to use add to this 10 or so Cobra AH-1’s from US stocks also a type in services with Iran and that way all that has happened is we have added 20 old but capable platforms with limited life to the region
The 348 mn price tag is still to high the 3 ships of the Khareef class where 400mn and the Amazonas class where sold for 133mn all be this deal was cheap it was not half price as the contrat to build the ship in the first place was 150 mn pounds so why the big jump in price this is the cost of 1 type 26 frigate. 90m OPV’s should not be costing the UK Tax payer 115 mn pounds per ship
The Amazonas are 80m long, we’re expected by most to be getting a stretched version at 90m.
BAE Systems own site say the new OPV’s will be 90m as the Amazonas are
Section lower block 03 of HMS Prince of Wales due to arrives in Rosyth on the 2nd August

It does rather look that way, and the £348 figure for 3 ships does look rather expensive when compared with the Holland class: €467.8m (£372m at current exchange rates) and that’s for 4 ships that are bigger and better.
Yep didn’t BAE sell 3 90m OPV’s to Brazil for 133 million pound so they are building and selling to the home their country the same ships for over double the price oh it makes me happy to be a tax payer
UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said: “UK warships are only built in UK shipyards. So are we taking from this that if the Scots vote yes and come out of the UK the 3 three new OPV’s and the Type 26’s will be built somewhere else in the UK
I feel for the lads at North Weald they just sorted the Seafire out and now this heads up lads
I would like to see a army wildcat fitted with a 20mm under the nose where the navys radar is fitted
HMS Ocean takes ammunition onboard today and will be ready to take over from Lusty who returns to her home port for the last time today
the thing about you get what you pay for comes to mind most people are happy to pay more if it turns up on time and works yes you can pay less and take a chance but you lose more in down time in the end
fair point as the french would also pick up a service contract for M2K from the PAF looks like it could a good pay day for the French
