Tank against airtargets. Know as Cheetah. Its the Dutch version of the Grepard.

GEPARD TRACKED ANTI-AIRCRAFT TANK UPGRADE, GERMANY
The Gepard anti-aircraft tank is manufactured by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), based in Munchen, Germany, and is operational with the armed forces of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The Gepard is a heavily armoured, autonomous and mobile air defence system based on the chassis of the Leopard main battle tank.

The vehicle is fitted with a fire control system, all-weather tracking and acquisition sensors and powerful automatic guns. Its role within NATO is to protect key installations, combat units and troops on the move, as well as on the battlefield.

UPGRADE PROGRAMME

The modernisation scheme for the Gepard includes: integration of C3 capabilities; improvement in target engagement with extended combat range, shorter reaction time and better hit and kill probability; and improved self protection. The main thrust of the improvement programme was the installation of new fire control systems, command and control management, muzzle velocity measurement device and the certification for new Frangible Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot ammunition (FAPDS) rounds.

The command, control and communications network for the Netherlands’ Gepard includes the new TICCS control system with a FM 9000 radio from Thales Nederland (formerly Signaal). The C3 system for the German Gepard, the HflaAFüSys, includes a new SEM 93 radio from SEL/Alcatel (GE).

The Dutch version, PRTL 35mm GWI, is based on the same system technology as the Gepard system with the exception of the radar system configuration. For this reason the upgrade programme was managed as a bilateral project. First deliveries of vehicles in the upgrade programme were made in 1998, and the programme is due to be completed by 2002.

ARMAMENT

The Gepard is fitted with a two-man electric power operated turret armed with twin Oerlikon KDA 35mm guns. The guns have automatic belt feed. Barrel length is 90 calibers (3,150mm). The rate of fire provided by the two barrels is 1,100 rounds/minute. Each 35mm gun has 320 rounds of ready-to-fire, anti-air ammunition and 20 rounds of anti-ground target ammunition. The guns are capable of firing a range of standardised 35mm ammunition, including the new Frangible Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot (FAPDS) rounds. The FAPDS rounds have a muzzle velocity greater than 1,400m/s. The Gepard is equipped with eight smoke dischargers installed on either side of the turret.

KMW are developing a missile system for the Gepard, using the Stinger surface-to-air missile system. The twin Stinger launching system will be fitted on the side of the 35mm twin gun.

FIRE CONTROL

The Gepard is equipped with a digital fire control computer supplied by EADS (DASA). The miniaturised digital computer uses 32 bit Motorola 68020 microprocessors, single board computers with dedicated arithmetic coprocessors and a command, control and communications (C3) interface. All data handled by the fire control system is related to the fixed vehicle coordinate system.

RADAR

The Gepard is equipped with independent search and tracking radars, the search radar (S-band for the German vehicle and X-band for the Netherlands vehicle) installed at the front rear of the turret, and the tracking radar (Ku band for the German vehicle and X/Ka band for the Netherlands) on the rear front of the turret. The radars provide 360° scanning with simultaneous target tracking, clutter suppression, search on the move capability and monopulse tracking mode.

The S-band search radar installed on the German Gepard has a range of 15km and sub clutter visibility of 60dB. The German Gepard tracking radar operating at Ku band has a range of 15km and the clutter suppression is 23dB.

PROPULSION

The Gepard’s auxiliary power unit is the Daimler Benz 66kW liquid cooled, multi-fuel, diesel engine, type OM 314. The generator power supply is 3x 200/115V, at 380Hz providing 2x20kVA power

The queen in the Netherlands is official Head of state, the country and is the head of te Staten Generaal (the senate and the House of Representatives comined). but the Prime minister is the real boss in our country and our Queen has to sign all law who are presented to her. She can not refuse to sign becouse the laws are made by the Representatives of the people. If you look it that way She has little power but Officialy she is our Head of state and she is not only cutting ribbons and that kind of stuff.

I must say I like this system and I do not want a president that change every 4 years. It is nice to know who’s next. In our case its Prins Willem Alexander and his beautiful wife (trust me she is) Prinses Maxima!

RE: Australia’s refugee problem

We got for instance a problems in public swimming pools.
Moslim guys, mostly from Marocco are raping and abusing girls in the swiming pool and they say that girls who dres like the girls seposed to do in a swimming pool(in a swiming suit) are hookers and it is allowed acording to the Koran that it is not a crime to abous that girls.

But a friend of mine is with the Militairy Police and is born in Marocco says that that is bull**** and when they do that in Marocco they whil be arrested and go to jail. They are useing to much the Koran to justify their bad behavure.

Whe have some other customs in our country’s why cant they accept OUR way of living? Whe accept their things so why cant they accept our customs and rules of good behaver?

I want to say that when you are fleeing for war and for instance Australia is give’s you shelter you don’t go raping.
Wat would happened if the Dutch people who fled to England in WW2 started to become criminals? The Englisch people would kick them back to the Germans and they would be shot.

When you shelter in a country you behave normal just like the normal citicens and not like a moron. OK some got problem but that should not be an exuse to become a criminal.

If you are fleeing for war it shoud’nt be a problem to seek refuge in a country but when the war is over you have to return.
Who’s gona rebuild the country?

If you are a economical refugee you’re not welcome in the Netherlands(official polecy) but they make disapere theire papers and say they are war refugees. My problem is the crime, when you are fleeing a war and you get shelter some where you do not behave bad!! It’s not nice to robe your host.
But when you say loud that some refugees are criminals they say you are a facist. I think thats wrong!

Perhabs you know the murder on a political leader in the Netherlands(Pim Fortuyn) he just said that all refugees who are stealing and are criminals have to return to their country war or not. He was killed just for saing out loud what the majority of the people of holland whas supporting his ideas.

Refugees have to give shelter in the aerea where they are from!
