I’d like to see ‘airborne’ spelt correctly. :p

What, you’ve never heard of the free airshow at Eastbourne in East Sussex then?:o:eek:

Two thoughts – how would most of us react if it was a NATO mission shot down while “protecting innocent civilians” as NATO were doing in Libya, and with Turkey having an increasing amount of Syrian refugees crossing the border could it have been an information-gathering mission rather than either a military intelligence mission or a potential attack?

I know that, if I was in a country on the receiving end of a mass refugee arrival, I would want my government to find out what’s going on.
I also know that I’d send a single jet on a photo mission – if I was planning anything more… adventurous I’d send at least one or two escorts with the recon bird, I certainly wouldn’t send an RF4 on its own…

There is only ONE “Lightning” in the RAF…

and that was the one built by English Electric in the 1960’s – the first aeroplane able to reach the speed of sound without reheat despite what other nations may claim 🙂

Just because politicians seem unable to accurately recall anything prior to the last election does not mean everybody else has the same problem. And given the way expected numbers are dropping quicker than some of our political “masters”‘s reputations, maybe “TinySpark” might be more accurate 🙁

Would it be at all possible for you to give a target release date for the next issue of PC Pilot? I am already signed up for the email alert, but it would be nice to know in advance to help make sure I get to the store as soon after it is released as possible!

    Thank you for your time.

    British mainstream media “accuracy”

It was proven years ago that the British newspapers and television were using the same few news feeds from foreign corporations like CNN and Reuters and doing very little ‘real’ investigation for themselves… relying too much on them for in-depth analysis of any subject much deeper than a kiddies paddling pool is like asking your pet cat to explain aerodynamics and EW theory.
Just because some politician is quoted by the Grauniad(*) and the BBC doesn’t mean he is right, or even that he has any clue what he’s talking about. As other people have mentioned, most of the current problems in UK defence procurement are the result of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown’s Labour government and the purely political motivation of the decisions they made, with little concern for the military impact those decisions are now having.

(*) Given the standards of written English I see time and again on international forums where non-English members are commenting in English, the spelling and general standard of work produced by The Guardian should make the editors hang their heads in shame and embarresment.

Nice models – did you collect/build them with any particular theme in mind, or was it a case of “hmm, like the look of that one…”? (if you don’t mind my asking, that is)

Isn’t Bureafighter Baboon supposed to replace the GR4? 😮

It would be interesting to see a “real” fly-off between the two airframes though, see which really is the best value for money without any artificial restrictions (like not being allowed to use all the avionics, or only being limited to what older aircraft can do) as tends to happen in most Dissimilar Air Combat excercises…

Nice model, and definitely an interesting idea too.

FSUIPC is essentially an interface that allows outside programs it work with FS9 or FSX.

It also allows some of the more complex addons such as the Aircraft carriers and the associated things such as arresters, catapults,HUDs etc to work inside FS.

It is not free….current cost about £15 one time payment…see the link…tells all .It is essential if you want to use these more complex addons.
    http://secure.simmarket.com/pete-dowson-fsuipc3.phtml

There are two versions of FSUIPC, and one of them is free. This will allow the majority of outside programs to work with MS’s flight sims. There are two versions, one for FSX and one for the sims that went befoer; make sure you get the right one!

    Please define “bust”.

I’m not familiar with this ‘stick as I prefer wired sticks (no probs with batteries dying at inopportune moments…) – if he has physically broken a piece off then you may be able to get it soldered and/or glued back on – as long as it isn’t part of a multi-layer circuit board where only some of the layers are attached to the broken solder joints/tracks.

From a quick look at the Saitek website, the problem is likely to be with a bluetooth dongle stuck in (your) pc’s USB port, paired with another built into the stick itself; if resoldering is not an option, you might find you can buy a new bluetooth dongle and reinstall the drivers etc that came with the stick to get it back working again – Saitek would be your best bet for finding out if this is possible (lack of email response so far probably means this would be a no-go) – bearing in mind, of course, that they would probably prefer you went and bought a whole new stick from them anyway…

Other than that, he might need to wait and see what Santa brings this year;)

    Good luck!

Normally we can spot advertisers a mile off, we have an eye for them 😉

Um, what you mean like suddenly appearing out of the blue and giving ‘advice’ thinly disguised as a marketing attempt?

I would be a little sceptical because you only have 1 post so far. What I will say is that the manufacturer is irrelevant to an extent, what is important is the PC specification, so I will say that for now you can post the spec then if the conversation leads to the manufacturer then we’ll go from there.

    We’re not against recommendations.

    Fair enough?

    Dean

    Perfectly fair – so here’s the spec…

    Intel Core2 Duo E7400 running @ 2.8GHz
    4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD4350 graphics card with 512MB on-board memory
    1TB SATA Hard Disk Drive
Windows Vista SP1 (configured with ‘Windows Vista Basic’ desktop and set to run for Best Performance)

DISCLAIMER: I’ve got a 60Hz monitor and the trial version of FSX (no Service Packs installed yet; I’m getting FSX Gold for Christmas so I’m not going through the whole installation, registration and activation rigmarole twice……) and this system runs FSX quite happily with the default settings, and only a little ‘stuttering’ when switching between views rapidly. I haven’t loaded any add-ons yet, and I haven’t tried upping any of the settings.
It runs FS2004 with all sliders maxed out* and I’ve ‘flown’ the Grand Canyon with commercial fast jet add-ons and had 60 frames/second without any pauses or noticable lag, on the display or in the response to control inputs.
*except it’s also set to not detect crashes :dev2: 😀

    Hope this helps…
