I am fairly new to the hobby and eBay initially was my only route in, through that I found the aeroboots etc.
eBay is a mixed bag in my experience sometimes you have to pay over the odds for an item if it’s important to your collection sometimes you bag a bargain. What it does well is give access to items that you would not normally come across. And you have the ability to shop globally taking advantage of exchange rates.
A example scenario in my experience is an RCAF flight engineers manual for a pre modification Comet 1A 5302 for £75 vs A Vickers Valiant wing tank servicing cover for £4.99 both equally rare neither of which I would have found otherwise one was a bargain the other was market rate.
I use a small group of sellers regularly they advertise at aspirational prices with a make an offer option so I either pay the asking if I think it’s a fair price or make an offer based on what I think the items worth. Normally we make a deal.
I have also dealt with salvage companies directly though with ex RAF this is more difficult now with the advent of eDisposals as pretty much everything goes through that channel these days. Again the brokers often now sell via eBay.
All the best,
Mike

Just to echo that, it was a great weekend despite Sunday being ludicrously wet…on the upside the queue to visit 594’s cockpit was really short 🙂 and worth just to see 558 strutting her stuff.
Great to meet some of Lindy’s crew even if I did have to fess up to sniping my Victor panel from them on eBay!!
Looking forward to Cockpit Fest in June.
Cheers,
Mike – Panel Sniper

Hi, I was the proud purchaser of the Vampire gun fairing 🙂 adding another type to my collection of bits. If the stencilling is correct it’s from T11 XE921.
