Height silhouette signature (HSS) dictates this a Jaggu (Jaguar).
NOTE – IAF personnel fondly call the Jaguar as Jaggu
Man.. I miss the IAF days

My moneys on the jaguar..

With so many of you posting pix of your flights, I’d suggest you might as well post some video captures as well of your own simulations. Perhaps 5 seconds clips could do for starters?

How could anyone man or bird see the spiral once the engine has been run up.
Unless they have strobe vision!

Dude.. read all the posts again. Birds have better framing rate than humans. Hence… !

I know.. it’s just a wishful thinking that we could get MS-FS in a boxed version.

So now moving to the next Q – and I know I will get hit on the head if this has been asked countless many times (considering that I am a relative newcomer to the SIMflight world).. if I am to put down my money, what OPTIMAL system operating on ME (i cant wait and afford Win.Vista) should I go for in the following aspects :-

1) CPU
2) Memory
3) Vid.card
4) What’s the best ‘sound’ site to d/load sound files?
5) Ditto – best a/port or terrain scenery site to d/load?
6) Should I go for Saitek-52 or other brands for controls?
7) Other suggestions are welcome.

Additionally you may email me at dandpatta@yahoo.com

Thanks a ton guys/gals.

Yeah … sonic booms.. extremely high decibels.. buffets .. and not to mention the high risk of an untoward incident.
However, the Russian pilots were the pioneers in doing the ‘face-to-face’ (i.e 2 jets screaming towards e/other and pass through within a few ..er yards of each other at high speeds). Of course, these stunts are passe nowadays but they were the first !! I wont be surprised if they take the entire length of their a/craft through the hole (pun intended).

Overly risky stunt.

I mean that is a perfectly good hole. Who knows what kind of damage a big Flanker could do to natural rock formations of this sort?

READ in block letters – AIRBRUSHED PICTURES !! Even a kid proficient with Photoshop could decipher the fake boom graphics.

Wheres the vapour?. Why is the vapour trial so back and already spreading our?

But if this picture is legit. The F-18 sonic boom is pretty impressive

Phantoms..

The closest thing I ever came to a Phantom was making a model kit 1:24 size way back in my youth. Evern since, I just fell in love with this bird..

The up-swing of the wings, the menacing look from the front and the deceptive low angled tail.. methinks there’s no other aircraft, in the jet age, as beautiful as the F-4 Phantom. It’s a sad thing to see this beauty being relegated to history gradually. If I had all the disposable money in the world, I’d build a museum displaying the variants of the F-4

Till then, I guess I’ll just let my sons build model kits of these 😉

This could be a result of the recent bonhomie of the two nations. If India does give the kinds of facilities the Americans are asking for, then it would be certainly to
contain the Chinese potential presence in Bay of Bengal.

Americans asking for such facilities is not new – and should not be treated as novelty in recent times. Getting strategic points around the globe in the name of R&R / Refuelling facilties & what nots, has always been on their agenda – weather u like it or not. They even knocked on Vietnam’s doors to get renewed & greater access to their famed former base – CAM RANH BAY !!!

Refering to the report (on the link) Personally, I’d say an outright NO … weather the Indian Navy has access to the Pacific or not !! And in any case, what would an assumed benefit of Indian Navy bring in the Pacific bring to India ???

http://srirangan.net/india-defence/node/266

Found this on the net. But am not quite sure if it is true. It would be surprising if India agreed access to mumai and vizag.

Well, I can surely see the point of Indian pilots learning to land on a carrier (and closely eyeball anything happening on a US carrier), but what’s the point of learning to take off with a catapult when the Vikramaditya (and the ADSs assuming MiG-29Ks) will have a ski-jump?

Indian Navy pilots will have to take off from SOMEWHERE !!! So T/Os will be catapult assisted … unless the US Navy is so generous – or – the Indian Navy is so audacious enough to request a Ski Ramp on the US carrier, which – is highly unlikely !

HI Aditya, according to the TOI report dated November 2003, they were to go for the US Customs Dept. Here’s the link to the article. THere are quite a few other sites where this speculative news has been around but nothing concrete has come out of it.

On another note, the guys in HAL really must push hard for the Latin American markets. It is a huge market (nonetheless a fairly risque one when it comes to currencies fluctuations et al).

in reply to: Why doesn't India have the MARINES #2047403

Hi JonS

LEt’s not get confused here.
The crux of this thread is about India not raising a FOURTH force (MARINES). We all know that India has the MARCOS but they function as separate commandos, initially styled as per US NAVY SEALS.
FYI, the MARCOS of India do not mean that we have a full fledged “FOURTH FORCE” like the US/UK /Philippine/Chinese Marines.
Hope all’s clear.

Cheers

Ja Worsely, Indian & Aditya

Thanks for your inputs.
I must say though, that the Marines as a force, are not only in the US or UK. The Chinese AND the Filipinos have them too. I do not know the statistics of the Chinese Marines but the Filipinos, to my research, have at least 4 brigades.

As for the Indian Marine Commandos (styled as per US’ SEALS), it is said that there are at least 2,000 active servicemen, however, Indian military establishments being very sercretive about revellation of numbers, this figure cannot be verified / scrutinised.

On a curious note – how exactly were Kennedy & Mc Namarra stupid during the crisis? I am an Indian so I didn’t dig too much into the Cuban Missile Crisis but accepted the usual plain American version offered on the platter (which painted Kennedy & McNamarra as the saviours)

NO FLAMERS pls.
