    Hi Himanshu

Thanks for your observations but I was just going through some Bharat Rakshak pics of Indian Navy section. Saw a carrier based pilot wearing dark blue. You too can see this pic in the B/R IN section.

And by the way, thanks a ton for suggesting the names of Kapil and Maz at B/R 🙂 That’s very helpful of you.

    Cheers from HK,

Dandpatta.. atleast I have not seen ANY seaking or harrier pilot in Blue regularly.. minus exceptions..

All have Orange.. you can ask Kapil or Maz at BR about that..

    Another Q for George

So would it be safe to conclude that Maritime pilots are assigned ORANGE J/suits and IAF are Dark Blue / Olives?
If that is the case then would you mind clarifying how come the Sea King Harrier pilots (carrier based) are assigned Dark Blues too/ I am kinda confused.. your reply would help clarify it.

Orange jump suits are worn my the the maritime flyboys. Like the boys from No.6 Jags are orange but the boys from No.20 MKI are darkblue. Both are based in the same AFB 100 meters from each other.

Thanks Orange for your valid information.
For INDIAN1973 & PIRATE, ref. the picture of the personnel from India and Singapore ,
the Extreme LEFT officer – you will note that he has two stripes on his right shoulder. That would be Squadron Leader
The Extreme RIGHT officer – going by his stripes, he could be identified as a Air Force Sergeant.

I got a good insight into these badges through the help of http://www.bharat-rakshak.com or http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/Info/Badges/index.html

    Identifying uniforms

    Hi Pirate,

Thanks for the valid information on the RSAF & IAF personnel in response to INDIAN.

But I don’t think the ridicule to Indian’s question was called for. It is not unless you are a civilian who is totally into military knowledge that you know what badges, uniforms and stripes mean. You would not expect some Scot farmer up on the rolling highlands to know what the RAF uniforms and stripes mean to him.

Just because some contributor to this thread is from A country, don’t expect them to know whole and soul about his country’s military badges / insignias etc!!! Be tolerant to inquisitiveness … my two cents !

    Cheers

The 2nd from right is a 1st Sgt from RSAF, the extreme right is from the IAF. You are not from India? Don’t even know your country’s uniform. RSAF personel on overseas detachment must wear the Singapore Flag on the left shoulder.

Would someone care to comment on what’s the idea behind wearing different colored jumpsuits (overalls) used in the IAF? THe typical colors usually seen are DARK BLUE , ORANGE, or the usual OLIVE.

    Any comments / thoughts?

Hope this question is not out of place but what dictated the wings of the phantom F-4 to be angled?? Any inputs would be valuable for my general knowledge..

    Thanks

Here’s my pragmatic take on the RSAF.

Long before the Indian Military establishment (read, Army, Navy, AirForce) came to the realisation that they had to exercise with certain country’s militaries, the Singaporeans were already into the multinational exercise / exchange game since over 2 decades.

The Singapore Govt signs land lease agreements with different nations (US, Australia, Canada and other countries) to

    1) station their Air Force planes and crew for a short term
    2) a result of this (point 1) gives them an advantage of being exposed to different environments (natural and simulated).
    3) this also gives them a much better opportunity to exercise with their ‘LANDLORD’ countries from whom they sign the base tenancy agreements. ( A prime example of such “LANDLORD / TENANT” agreements have been looked into by the Indian & Singaporean govts during the last round of FTA )

I, for one would not dismiss the Singaporeans as inferior to the Indians or, for that matter, anyone !! They are, like the Indians, very professional and very thorough to their jobs – last but not the least, the most underrated, but highly trained boys !

    Jai Hind !

By the way, before my countrymen attack me, the JUVENILE concept = ME, not the nation’s Navy !!!! So hold back your daggers bhai-log. 😀

India’s stealth ship (my juvenile design concept)

Just a juvenile concept of what a Stealth Ship from India would look like…..
