Stepwilk, I´m with you there. I´ve finally watched the start up of the BMW 801 posted by FHC on Facebook. This was absolutely oil smoke, not over rich. Oil smoke is blue-ish in colour, the over rich smoke is very black!
That´s really sad news. Hope the pilot will pull through!

Somewhere earlier in the this thread I was harping on about an in – service shot of MS 902. I´ve now found it again, even though it is not from the same source as I originally got the picture. Here is the same picture, courtesy of http://www.flugheimur.is

This picture is taken after the aircraft left the service, or on the 6th of July 1946 when the RAF turned RAF Station Reykjavik over to the Icelanders. On the day, there was an airshow, and this picture is probably taken on that occasion.
Just to clarify, the Bear is subsonic as well! It is doing just about M.78 at altitude. Without having checked I would have thought the F89 and F94 would have been doing about .85 to .90 minimum.
hehehehe It is all computer generated. No aircraft was hurt in the making of this video :D:D
Forget the Seafire, however nice she is!!! I would really, really like a private place like that :D
PeeDee,
I´m certainly not the greatest fan of composites when it comes to aircraft construction, but your version of how bad it is surpasses my own pessimistic view by a great margin 😮
Wieesso has it as far as I´m concerned! 😎
A bit hard to read, but could the serial be E629? If it is, it should narrow things down a bit.
and i believe N623TB which is the D/9 with the Allison has also flown but would like a ff date ??
I don´t think it ever flew with the Allison. IIRC it is now in Germany (Meier Motors??) to be fitted with an original engine.
Vampire T-11 and Piston Provost.
The picture is labeled Vampire T11 so that is not too hard:D:D
Very interesting news! The Great Lakes is one of the icons of the 30´s and a very pretty aeroplane too!
Just a shame that with a pricetag of over 200.000 dollars, I will not be in a position to buy one anytime soon.
Here’s one taken by my uncle around 1940/41 at Reyjavik. Before that he had been at AASF HQ Reims during the Battle of France. He was later killed in Palestine in 1942. Helping out moving a bomb on the airfield, on his days leave!

G-ASEA, that Christmas Card is of enormous interest to me. I´ll be sending you a PM!
Well done chaps! :D:D
She has come along very nicely since I had the pleasure of seeing her (and her stablemates!) this summer. Now the inevitable question! Will she be at Le…..;):D:D
I thank all of you that have participated in this thread so far.
WP, I´ve already got a thread running over on WIX regarding this tire, but so far nothing has been confirmed.
