The Su-35 (T10M) that was fitted with thrust vectoring nozzles was re-designated as the Su-37 – coded 711 and called ‘Terminator’ in Sukhoi publicity handouts.

It was demonstrated at various airshow – most notably at Farnborough in the hands of Yevgeniy Frolov – where it stunned the watching crowds.

The manouevres it performed (Kulbit, Bell etc) were dismissed as just ‘airshow stunts’ by the western press and they ‘had no place in combat’.

Strange then that now the F-22 has TVC – and performs similar manouevres – they are now regarded as legitimate combat tactics…. 😎

Anyway, after demonstrating the benefits or otherwise of TVC, the system was removed from the Su-37 – and it reverted to being a Su-35.

But – when they removed the TVC engines, Sukhoi fitted an improved FBW system – and they claimed that, due to this new software, 711 was just as agile without the TVC as it had been with TVC.

Unfortunately Su-35/711 crashed a few months later – not related to the FBW software AFAIK.

    Dear sir,

I think the big difference is that the F-22 can do this with a combat load.

    Dear sir,

Have we forgotten about Rafale and EF outrageous claimsk?
Have we forgotten about the active stealth debacle? And plasma stealth? We
Arnt the ones still claiming stealth doesn’t work, even after 20 years and 5 conflicts.

Although none of the S-300 versions have ever fired a missile in a real conflict, it is considered a very capable SAM system. In April 2005, NATO had a combat exercise in France and Germany called Trial Hammer 05 to practice SEAD missions.[45] Participating countries were pleased that the Slovak Air Force brought a S-300PMU along, providing a unique opportunity for NATO to become familiar with the system

I’m actually trying to track down Some sat photos of S-300s in the United states.

I know they where sold to us.
Croatia: Croatia no longer maintains an S-300 system. It was acquired from Ukraine in 1995 and was never complete and in operational state, but served the role of a psychological weapon. After much controversy, as of 2004 the system is no longer in Croatia and was presumably sold. According to some sources, including the court testimony of arms dealer Zvonko Zubak, the system was indeed shipped to the United States in 2004

Is it just me or do we have some new type of sealant on the access panels running along the lower fuselage?

Id like to know more about this system.

AN/ASQ-239 “Barracuda” electronic warfare system, and integration of other sensors as flight testing progresses.

ORT WORTH, Texas, December 14th, 2010 — The third F-35A to join the test fleet at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., tops off its fuel tanks while cruising west toward its destination after departing Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 11. Lockheed Martin test pilot Bill Gigliotti flew the conventional takeoff and landing variant, known as AF-3

    Dear sir,

The U.S. owns a S-300, Irael must have info on it also, because they have threatened Russia with the release of Tech data. The s-300 Is not the savior of the unfree world

The first point you made is at the very best, debatable, we could go on & on about that until the moo-cows come home.

The second point however, well, you said; ‘In fact’, which I’m assuming you really mean; ‘It just will, period!’ since you haven’t explained why it can. Can you explain why you think the F-22 without “stealth” can defeat a Typhoon? It’s quite a claim you’ve just made there, old chap.

    Dear sir,

The F-22 can beat the Typhoon on pure kinematics alone. It throws the missile father it turns tighter, its sensors are better. its a better plane even with out stealth. When you post a video of a typhoon doing a J-turn then we can debate the issue, but until then just accept that the Typhoon is a inferior aircraft to the F-22 in every respect. Pirate IRST wont help you much in WVR or when the enemy air craft can manage energy alot better than you.

P.S. I don’t even think all Typhoon variants carry a gun.

    Dear sir,

The Syrian air defenses not only were jammed but hacked. Having all of that equipment like passive sensors, active sensors, using a networked architecture posses the risk that if someone has a basic understanding of the system (Israel and the U.S.) they can feed it a virus. we have already been over this. please read some of the previous posts before you post.

Just like I said before, LM has shot itself into its own foot. For years they have been trumpeting out F-22 as the best thing since sliced bread with SC, stealth and kinematic advantages, defined generations just to separate the new toy from everything else..

The bloody thing is that now they need to make money with a fighter that has none of the described virtues – is neither stealthy, nor fast. So they have to either disprove all the claims they have made before or make the F-35 look a bit better than it is by highlighting the few good things it has and keeping shut about everything else (especially speed, aerobatic capabilities and RCS).

Which is exactly what they’re doing.. And it’s funny to watch fans following whatever they spit out like a herd of brainless sheep.

    Dear sir,

Because you say the aircraft is neither fast nor stealthy I suppose that makes it true?

    Dear sir,

I think that we will find in the coming years, that the F-22, F-35, T-50 and J-xx have gotten things right concerning stealth and the future of aviation. All of the performance on earth wont make a difference if you cant stay alive on the way to your target. Further more, Eurofighter will find itself falling further behind in aircraft development by 2025 if a new design incorporating the very concepts you disdain isnt on the drawing board. How will you build stealthy UAVs if they don’t even have internal bays? Further more while EF rests peacefully on its laurels, Most of the the world will look twoard the future and some kind of stealth platform. Its Like someoen invented a submarine.
And instead of designing your own. you write long flowing bloviating satirical
internet posts about how the ballasts in the submarine weigh a lot.
