I am sure that the photos may get into the press as the retiree was on the books for many years and did sterling work.

Run and breaks by 3 big birds are well impressive..I have a nice view!

Digby, how more real can I get?! I am big, fat and ugly and love Merlins (I suppose I am biased…I own a Merlin but not a Centaurus)

    regards Tony 😀

I agree with Geedee…..the sound of a Merlin at full chat is gorgeous. The centauraus is boring compared with it!!

this piece of armour is from the back armour (you have just under half of it!) and fits just below the head armour. It goes from the the base of the neck down to the small of the back (below that is what I call one’ bottom armour!!)

I am still looking into possible histories.

    Unfortunately not Ant!

We have a Tyffie cockpit project and although that would have helped big time, I cannot justify the expenditure given the other projects!

I know of many disappointed people.

It was a bizarre day….quite bizarre watching people who do not normally collect this stuff buzz sawing off one blade of an Me109 3 blade unit to get it on their roof! (Wide eyed and incredulous we were!).

I understand that both the Typhoon and Horsa are France bound.

I agree with Ashley….better to see her fly than not at all.

I suppose it is a bit like collectors of anything. We are purely custodians looking after items until we move them on to others. Red Bull have allowed the current custodians to keep operating this fine aircraft for a period longer. One day, she may end up in a more appropriate scheme. He who pays the piper calls the tune.

A suitable question may be…..if Red Bull or other stumped up the money for the Vulcan would you all whinge if she flew as a giant advert? I certainly would NOT.

I actually think the colour scheme is quite fun and from an aviation preservation viewpoint will be beneficial. How many Red Bull drinkers know what a Sea Vixen is? (Or come to think of it any particular older aircraft) Well more will know soon.

Yo MoggyC….being a saddo…I have both versions…..Pussy Palmer…..not a particularly kind nickname….did not make it to the BoB sadly. I will try to find more. He was shot down at least twice in France. Second bale out some French soldiers used him for target practice. Fighter Pilot is such a good book.

Here we go…third time lucky I hope at getting the dreaded server to accept my post!

I shall trya nd check out BoB Then & Now for you Kev.

The armour markings you have sound good. The ‘C’ number tends to be a centre section (fuselage) starting part no. Armour was marked ‘H Ltd 1940) for Hawker Ltd and the date. If you send me a picture, I shall identify it further!

    regards Tony
