RE: IWM 190 refurbishment
I have shots of it before refurb at Duxford and after at IWM Lambeth but alas none outside just after restoration. Was it ARCO or TFC who did the refurb?
RE: Gonna miss the duxford get-together
I could not have put it better than Ant!
When you get back over here Gary I will show you the emergency panel in the flesh as it were!
You can be forgiven Gary as the Spitfire has a cockpit door on the port side.

We could raise a petition at the forum getogether on Sunday!!
RE: Duxford get-together update
Well my display is coming together slowly!
Robert Rudhall is bringing a superb prize with him which must command lots of tickets!!!
I shall (If I remember) bring my Piece of Cake phots from Duxford.
Best present for me (apart from the Spitfire spare gun sight bulb holder one’s darling wife bought!) was Dark Blue World on DvD….absolutely wonderful with some excellent extras.
If anyone wants any phots brought, just post a message on the forum and you never know but someone might be able to oblige!
regards and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Sunday!

Thanx for the message Andrew…however, this raffle falls into the realms of a tombola of the sought organised by private parties/schools/brass bands/pubs/messes/butchers (for meat draws etc.)….indeed we are not selling to the public just inviting a donation from our group of friends for a chance to win an item. Hence strictly speaking it is not a raffle.

RE: Duxford get-together update
Probably helpful if you send an SAE to Ashley too!
To recap….prizes so far are an original number plate (identical to a real WW2 one) from a German vehicle used in the Battle of Britain Film (possibly a Kubelwagen or motorcycle), a great item and you can enjoy trying to spot it when watching the film over & over again…indeed it will give you an excuse to tell the other half as to why you are watching it again!
My daughters are donating a big jar of sweeties. If anyone has anymore prizes donate that would be nice…I shall be having a scour around the place to try and find something more.
It should be a fun day out with dreaming of the warmer days!
>Additional – when sending contributions/money for raffle
>tickets etc, please include a contact name and address so I
>can send you your tickets!
RE: Duxford get-together Sun 5th Jan
That is what I am hoping people will do….they can say as much or as little (or nothing!) as they wish…the idea is a get together….the talk will form a focal point, we will have the raffle with the chance to win the BoBfilm prop (and hopefully other prizes if we can get them!!). We can have a live forum also if people wish to air a subject.
I would hope many of our photographers will bring photos, I shall endeavour to bring some Spit ones.
If anyone wants to see any particular photos or has any research questions etc, now is the time to air them and the live forum getogether may be able to help.

RE: You asked about current aircraft
Depends on the fuel system. Most aircraft (old & more modern) have some form of manual ‘feed/suck’ should a boost pump fail. If the switch between the two is flawless or without any time interval, then there is no reason for boost pumps not to be selected. However, if the failure requires the pilot to make a switch selction, the time delay/interval could be a problem!

RE: Duxford get-together Sun 5th Jan
Right, I have a lovely first prize for our unofficial raffle….remember ALL proceeds will be going to the Mark Hanna Burns Charity….
the first prize will be an original movie prop from the Battle of Britain Film….it is a number plate fitted to one of the German military vehicles. The winner will be able to spend hours of fun searching for it whilst watching the film again and again! It is a must prize for any fim fan!
My daughters have donated a huge jar of sweets as another prize.
If we can get an official address at IWM, we can give out raffle tickets for a donation to people on the forum should they wish to take part.
I shall be putting on a small display of Film memorabilia.
regards to all

RE: Duxford get-together Sun 5th Jan
That is good news Ashley….
but I like the idea of us giving a wodge to the Mark Hanna Burns charity, a sort of donation and vote of appreciation all in one from the Forum
is there anyway that we could see if those people who cannot make the day but wish to support the charity side could send donations to a central address (possibly your official address Ashley?!) and then we could make a bigger cheque to the charity?! Just a thought.

I shall inform Robert Rudhall that we will be requiring his services…he shall need some equipment Ashley!
If we can have a list of possible attendees asap we can do name badges or people can design their own with an aviation theme?!
We will have tables if anyone has a desire to bring items of their wares…photos etc!
