RE: Flypast Cockpit Festival At Newark Air Museum
At the risk of looking a twonk for not checking the website(!!) are you taking your Hunter Mark?
I suppose I had better check the list and see what I am supposed to be taking!!!!
RE: Duxford, May 5th
Lots of the comments about inconsiderate people are too common place nowadays!
I have one question though if you’ll oblige me? Why when I get my photos back is there always an oik with a bright reddy orange shock of frizzy hair in all my photos?! Invariably the oik has an aeroplane imbedded in his head!
The ladder brigade seriously annoy me, as do those people with their chairs up against the railings who stand up to take a shot even though they have a clear view when sat.
What about those wannabes who drive to the shows, get out the car and swap their everyday clothes for flying suits to look ‘cool’ and like pilots!!!
RE: Duxford, May 5th
Ha! I flew in from the US some 5 hours ago, my brother did his usual amusing trick of ring me from his mobile (whilst at Duxford) to ask where I was!
Unfortunately he has the aviation knowledge of a peanut and could only identify a Chinook and Merlin HC Mk 3!!

RE: Gyro Gunsight fitted to Mk9 Spitfire
Not sure any would have gone to Russia in WW2 as they came in late in the war and the technology was new.
A chap wrote an excellent book on armaments and gunsights from the war (was available from Midland Counties)…..someone else in the group may be able to remember the proper title.

RE: Boscombe Down Museum Open Day
Unfortunately our web site is run by a voluntary chap who just puts details of the museum. I will try and find the address!!
Last year, there was no flying apart from a free fall display. The atmosphere was wonderful and we had a huge amount of support for the museum which was very nice. In this uncertain climate, we need all the support we can get. There will be various aviation events, the statics, it will be free (unless we can charge just 20p for parking and give the money to the museum – I wish!!!).
I will post more details as I get them.
There may be flying this year, not sure, but will post as soon as I know. Not sure if one can flyin yet either. We have an active club (Bustard Flying Club).
Boscombe Down is just 2 miles off the A303, 15 miles to the west of Andover. It is easy to get to.

RE: Kingcobra crash at Biggin Hill last year
I agree Damien. The whole event was tragically sad, he would have never intended for it to go this way.
Regarding the comment about loss of control = in crowd….whoa no way. We have excellent guidelines that prevent that.
The AAIB does not exist to apportion blame, for me, every accident has lessons that can be learned. They present the facts and we all learn from them, that is how it works.

RE: Eggbeater finale
So have I old bean and love it! Nap of the earth in a Chook is almost as exciting as low level in a Jag!
Having said that, I suppose my leaning is more to fixed wing.
