Well I can confirm it’s more than a rumour – watched some of the display from the office window.
DC6 has just done a low level run down the runway at Blackbushe. Climbed out heading in the direction of Farnborough.
Sometime after 5.30 a Hunter crossed over Yateley Hampshire heading west. I thought it may be heading for Farnborough but it didn’t appear to join the circuit but maybe it did after I lost sight of it.
I can understand that they would not have taken the design much further (even if the Merlins did play up) as the jet age was just around the corner. I’m just surprised they didn’t build them with Griffons in the first place.
Shackleton – I think that adds to my argument – if they were good enough for that why not the Lincoln?
Bazza
She wasn’t taking off from Leavesden – our office now stands on that site.
Thanks Nashio966, It’s been years since I built any models and I’m a bit out of touch – things seem to have moved on from my Enya 19!
Dragon Rapide at Fairoaks and I’d guess it was 79/80? I have a vague idea it was green (maybe brown???). Unfortunately I never made a note of the reg.
First time I was air sick – that honour belongs to an Air Atlantique DC3 …….and it was such a lovely day I can’t even explain why…
addz0009, What engines are you planning to use?
I assuming they did clean out the oil cooler & lines etc after the first engine fragged?
They certainly cleaned out the oil tank – I saw them do it!
Yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday) at 15.45 a Spitfire flying west over Yateley Hampshire. Couldn’t make out any details other than it was a cannon version.
Dragon Rapide circling Blackbushe right now
I remember pushing one from Hampton to Sunbury on Thames….Chevette that is not a Hunter. Those were the days…..
Tangmere – If you could travel back in time I’d do something about the Chevette before worrying about the Hunters……..
Valiant B.Mk2………….great looking aircraft that would have seen service for many years.
They must have been modified with a much longer undercarriage to keep those tanks off the ground!
