just to be on the right side of facts, there was no policing or forcing. the cheetah landed in a pakistani controlled area due to bad weather. once there they were discovered by pakistani camp personnel nearby. more like a stroke of good luck than adept policing let alone forcing (with what one might ask).
DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major Gen. Athar Abbas words were “It was forced to land.”
Pakistan agreed with the Indian version that the violation Was caused due to volatile weather and thats why they let them go but that doesnt change the fact that “It was forced to land.”
Here is what Indian News Papers had reported
Indian Army copter forced to land in Pakistan, released
ANITA JOSHUAPakistan allowed an Indian helicopter with four Army personnel on board to return home on Sunday evening; about five hours after it was forced to land in Skardu for violating the Pakistani airspace.
The chopper, which intruded into Pakistan’s airspace near Olding in northern Skardu near Kargil on the Indian side, was forced to land around 1 p.m. local time.

Pakistan forces Indian helicopter to land
“Our air defense aircraft immediately scrambled into the air and reached the area and forced the helicopter to land,” a Pakistan air force official said.
Coming back to the topic
Pakistani Defence Minister has said, “Three squadrons are already flying the aircraft in Pakistan and one squadron in China,” at the Dubai Air Show
In what capacity would the PAF provide “critical input” into the development of the SD-10A/B, above and beyond that which the Chinese already know? What other previous experience has the PAF had with a BVR weapon to base this “critical input” on? They have enough trouble policing their own airspace, let alone telling others what to do in the development of a BVR missile.
well PAF has done well policing and forcing the the Indian helicopter :p
On other hand you are right that Pakistan has no experience in developing BVRAAMs,
With the AIM-120 C5 AMRAAM PAF certainly doing good to defend its airspace and with third JF-17 squadrons in play PAF is increasing the number of launch platforms available for BVRs at good pace.
Considering
Indian General Accounting Office report, the R-77 missile in the test and testing process revealed a series of defects. During the test, some missiles at the target or not, or is it on the ground testing phase has been identified as unsuitable for use – even though its expiration from the store there for a long time. The present situation has been confirmed by Indian Air Force.
The CAG report, which will be released soon, is based on evaluations of the missile — its range is close to 90 km — during ground tests, inspections and test firing by the IAF. The missiles were bought at a “cost of Rs 2 crore each” but their failure during tests, says the CAG report, has affected the “operational preparedness” of the IAF.
“All figures in the report are based on air force records. Everything is verified by the IAF,” an official said.
I Know India have numbers advantage but i wouldn’t be sure to call They have enough trouble policing their own airspace.
and please don’t use the US attack as example as US has the technology to to that to any country in the world and we are talking about the Pakistani government who keeps changing its stance every day for example in on the drone issue
PM Gilani said, “Such attacks are intolerable, and we protest against it” in November 2010. He also said rejected the claims by the Pakistani media that there exists an agreement between Pakistan and US about these drone attacks.
In one of the cables released by the WikiLeaks, Mr. PM Gilani was quoted saying that he doesn’t care about these attacks by the US unmanned aerial vehicles as long as the right people are killed.
Unfortunately, its just the dirty politics which means that all the MPs will make statements against US in public but wouldn’t do that in front of the US
But that’s the discussion for another thread so….
Very interesting! Thanks Jawad. That setup reminds me of the BGM-109G land based Tomahawk system;

Also, it may be possible that it’s a dual use system, I’m sure that enclosure could be transferred to a naval system, possibly the additional F-22Ps on order or any future PN vessel?
very interesting indeed
I don’t think that newer babur will fit on a small ship like F-22P (3000tons) especially these Vertical launch system (unless PN is willing to sacrifice the helicopter hangar) but its is very likely PN may equip its future frigate enlarged version of F-22P or Type 054A.
My understanding is that cylinder tubes may have been developed to store missile for long maintenance-free shelf life.

The HQ-16 is a lic produce or joint devel of BUK-M1-2 and has a range of 40 Km , the Chinese have made a VLS version of it , AFAIK it is a SARH missile like any BUK variant is.
Thanks guys
How does it compared to the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) in term of performance, especially against the super sonic missiles?
