It happened at the last Prestwick air show-about 12 years ago if memory serves.
I was there, but I missed the attempts Beattie made to bounce the stuck undercarriage wheel down. Apparently Sea Furies are notorious for tipping over and with that bubble canopy, its not good news for the pilot, so he took it out over the Clyde Estuary and bailed out.
Anyone out there got photos of WB567,WP967 or WZ875?
I flew in all these Chippies in the ATC from Turnhouse in the late 70’s.
Very nice! 🙂
Cheers Dodrums. Excellent photos.

I’d just like to echo that.
It was a real treat to hear Keith’s stories and anecdotes, and to put faces to names.
I’ll now look at Vulcans ,Phantoms and Tornados with different eyes, and thanks to Radar Archive for the talk on Radar!
A really enjoyable day out-and all for 2 quid!
I’m bringing along my r/c Spit if anyone wants to see it. Wont be flying it though.
😀
I liked the Shuttleworth Spit with the chipped edges and used look.
Nothing less appealing, in my eyes, than something that looks like it came straight out of Hendon.
So, is that a full turnout for the Jocks then?
Anyone not coming?
Just checking in and confirming my attendance!

It’ll be really good to see one of these brought back from extinction.
Always thought it was an aesthetic looking beast.
Glad to hear it.
Thanks Roger. Do you know who is restoring it?
Its back was broken when it was raised, but I seem to remember they got it all up.
Absolutely agree on that point Trumper.

I have 2 cats, who are no trouble at all. They purr when you go near them, sit on your lap, and bury their own doo doo.
I also have a 15 year old Golden Retreiver who smells like the very bowels of hell, dumps and barfs on the carpet, which used to be white, and makes large dead patches on my lawn.
As for birds, I’d really like to know why, when I’ve just polished my car to a high lustre, do they invariably do a bombing run right up the middle of the bonnet, and all over the windscreen. Maybe they’re not so daft…….
