Well, it is and it isn’t! Originally it was all Flair. After several unplanned landings, the fuselage eventually turned into a balsa cluster bomb, and I had to build a new one from scratch. It turned out much better than before, and as Ageorge will tell you, does everything a Cub should. It taught me a lot about r/c flying, especially co-ordinated turns, but once I had got going with my Kamco Kavalier (“Foofighter”) I just didnt want to go back to it.
Its an excellent trainer, and Ageorge is going to have a lot of fun with it.!
Its a Flair!
Well, for me the “mistakes” were- destroying all those real Mossies. Ouch! Still hurts to watch those scenes! Also the
aircraft blowing up in mid air that are very clearly plastic models – and that irritating music that seems to be present in just about every scene. The flying sequences more than make up for all that though.
When will we ever see a Mosquito flying in the U.K. again I wonder?
Hear hear!
Couldnt agree more Ageorge!
Go and watch planes and be thankful we can!
A bit belated, but heres my tuppence worth.
I live 40 miles from E.F.
I can remember when it was a small and not particularly imaginative collection.
Now, thanks to the motivation of Adam Smith, we’re lucky enough to have access to a decent airshow in south east Scotland at last.
We’re lucky that the warbird owners down south are willing for their aeroplanes to cover the distance for our benefit.
It doesnt matter a monkeys whether its on the same day as Duxford! So what!
Neither does it matter what is on the stalls for Pete’s sake.
There are much bigger things for people to worry about!
Angels One Five was on Channel 4 today!
Its fairly small for a model of a big bomber. Is it for electric power?
Neilly- its the Cambrian Spit Mk. 9. 55 inch wingspan, and the kit was very well made. Just some problems with the c of g, but otherwise its fine, with an S.C. 40 in the business end, and it looks great. I really enjoyed building it, and it introduced me to the art. Previously, I’d been a plastic modeller, now thers no looking back. My current runabout is a Kamco Kavalier. Very easy to fly, and stable. At the moment, I’ve just built another one, but am adapting it to make it into a biplane with Irvine 40 up the front. Wont look as good as your Mossie though!
Fair bit of work in that Lib. Should be quite something!
Phantom, just go for it. You only need basic woodworking skills and a straight eye. My Spit was built from a kit. It was my first build, took me 4 months and looks great. If I can do it, anyone can! Unfortunately, I cant get my computer to send pictures on this forum, so cant show you the results. It is worth spending the time though, especially when it flies as nature intended!
Which Spit is it then?
er… What?
Atroshiuos!:D
Tanks!;)
Call me a pedantic old buffer, but the word is “scrapped”, not “scraped”
It really needs to be put out of its misery.
I understand your alternative perspective Arthur, but this is just too undignified.
