I’m going back to about 1973 or 4 here, so no chance of it being on video. I do have a clear memory of that lovely plane with the black gloss finish and the knight on the nose flying very low over a cornfield. I was a nipper at the time, but the image stuck. I read somewhere that OHB had a bit of a penchant for low flying-beating up Duxford in his Sea Fury and such like.
Found a Kyosho site earlier, but alas, no T33.
Would make a spectacular flying model though…….
Guess that’ll be the Black Knight colour scheme plan then?
Would look superb. I remember a television series from the 70’s for children’s t.v called “The Long Chase”. I remember it for 2 reasons 1-Jan Francis was in it 2-low flying scenes with that plane, with the nose art clearly visible!
I remember one called the “Poachers” displaying at Leuchars in the 80’s. Four JP Mk. 3’s I think. Red with blue trim.
Whats the Lanc doing at Lossie then?
That Shackleton photo speaks a thousand words.
Its a crying shame that this can happen in a national museum.
Wish someone would either rescue that junkyard Lighting and do something with it, or scrap the thing. Its a sad, rotting carcass, and really shouldnt be subjected to sitting beside the A1 slowly decaying.
Take a reality check Merlin. Its one thing flying a prop driven warbird, and quite another flying-safely-a highly complex supersonic capable fighter. The CAA is the organisation that ensures a red hot Avon engine doesnt come hurtling through your roof, and they seem to do that rather well.It may be frustrating for folks like us, that we cant see our pet fighter up in the sky where it belongs, but thats the way it is, and the way its going to be.
Well, while we’re at it, I hate the word ” airplane “.
Wish he hadn’t taken KB976 though!
Kermit plays his part in keeping these old aircraft alive, and I for one take my hat off to the bloke. The aircraft preservation world needs folk like him, and if it means aircraft leavimg these shores to U.S.A., well, at least they’ll have their chance. Better than mouldering in the corner of a windswept airfield.
I agree with you on the spelling issue. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read about airframes being “scraped”.
Nothing wose than bad speling. Or gramer

Scenario 3; Wake up and smell the coffee. It aint gonna happen.
Pie very much in the sky I think.
it wasn’t a Blue Steel hang up. It was a broken refuelling probe.
Sorry to hear that Keith.
I’ll look forward to hearing of a later slot.
