Works for me too (right click, save as, then double click to open it once it has downloaded), very nice!
Hope it visits the UK soon, never seen a ‘live’ connie, what an wonderful design.
AJ – no the buchion did not fly, the fillets between the tail and fuselage and wings and fuselage are still missing, as are all the access panels. Still waiting for the CAA paperwork too apparently.
Thanks for everyone’s kind comments, a few more I’ve sorted out

Thanks! Certainly was, arrived about 10:00 (4th car in the public car park!) flying was just starting, and continued virtually non stop until I left about 15:30 as the heavens opened. All that for just a fiver, got to be the best value around.
this one?

What an excellent way to kick the season off, first time I’ve been to Abingdon and I’ll certainly be going again. A few of my attempts….

Hmm…. decisions decisions, not managed to make any events since last October, now this weekend, we’ve got Abingdon, Bruntingthorpe, Old Warden, and Breighton all on the same day!
Abingdon and Breighton are the two I’ve not been to so far, although if the weathers calm, I really love the Shuttleworth collections early aircraft. Sounds a great event though, with plenty for the less aviation inclined members of the family. Very tempted, lets hope for some good weather!
A bit more information at

Not usually that interested in fast jets, but the one I really kick myself for missing is the SR 71 Blackbird.
It was supposed to be at my local show at Finningley one year, but for one reason or another (weather I think) was unable to display. Never saw that in the air, what a shame!
(still, I saw dozens of Vulcan displays which always left me grinning from ear to ear 😀 😀 )

Wow, stunning shot ! That should win a competion or something, its not often I get that taken aback by a photo 😎
Thanks! Must admit I was pleased when I found that negative in a shoe box full of mediocre stuff a few weeks back.

Lightning F3 XP741, Weston Super Mare, 1987
Pity the Ryanair collaboration never came to anything, she certainly looked the business in those colours.
Last few bits from my collection, 3 newspaper cuttings relating to G-BJHS, the “white elephant” JDK mentions can be seen on the fin in the first one.
The second cutting always amuses me since it compares it to a Bugatti Royale as a “golden investment”. That was in 1989 when silly money was been thrown at classic cars and the like.

20 years ago this easter..
Just found these, taken Easter 1984 so I’d be 15 and armed with my trusty Zorki 4, so excuse the quality!
We were on holiday in the New Forest and visited Colshot Spit; the Sunderland was open to anyone who was interested. Nobody seemed to mind a couple of teenagers climbing all over it, and let us sit in the cockpit unattended for as long as we liked. How times change, I couldn’t imagine that happening with an airworthy aircraft today.

Glad to know its got a roof over its head today, even if its not currently airworthy.

No problem JDK, I’ll sort some high res scans out at the weekend.

Hmmmm?Sunderland and Tornados. Looks rather like a photo-montage to me. I wouldn’t dare say that out load, though.
Nope, straight scan from the negative in front of me, dated 16th June 1990
Here’s the contact sheet

always good to keep a record of these things isn’t it 🙂
Remember seeing her at Coningsby (1990) once, very nice to see floating slowly down the runway.
